Wow you guys seem all excited for Sunday! Think it will be a decent match, we have to win as I see the rags beating Arsenal. If we win I think it will be between us and utd for the title, saying that i'm not as confident as other fans on the City thread. We seem to be losing the typical city tag but i've seen us lose "must win" games all too often both in Europe (Hamburg in UEFA Cup and Napoli in Champs League), also Domestically, like against spurs a couple of seasons ago at home! We will undoubtedly miss Kompany, Yaya and Balotteli so its probably a good time to play us, we haven't played anything like our best since losing to Chelsea in Dec, so we need players to stop mouthing off to the press and get back to the kind of football we were playing over the first 2 months of the season. I have heard a rumour up here that our back 4 will be Zabaleta, Richards Lescott, Clichy - no Savic, which is pleasing as he isn't up to Championship never mind Premier football! Anyway I hope we get a good result, but that spurs finish 2nd/3rd as i've always had a lot of time for you as a club and your fans.
Hi Kippax, thanks for the kind words. Most City fans seem to dislike/hate us, so I'm glad we have at least one friend up there
Why would we dislike spurs? The rivalry over the years has never been OTT and no trouble at matches as far as I remember.Other than the vile Trafford twats I don't think we have any issues with other teams to be honest
What goes around comes around and Citeh were not worth the 5 :1 win back at the Lane so we might get some of that back. Lets hope so.
Ta guys No Savic seems like a bad thing for us but Richards is excellent going forward and I would rather he was at centreback, plus Zabaleta always struggled with Lennon when he was at leftback so I'd imagine Bale could get some joy out there too. If Mancini goes for the more attacking style he had at the start of the season(and against Wigan) we should be in for a real cracker. Definitely looking forward to it but definitely not confident, hopefully Chelsea will lose on Saturday so I can enjoy both games on Sunday a little more relaxed
I really hope Savic plays, from what I've seen, he looks way out of depth for a club aiming to win the league, be sods law he'll have a blinder against us though should he play! Quite surpised City haven't made a bid for Alex, reckon he'd be good competition for Lescott, Toure and Kompany.
Well said PP , but if you go on Blue Moon you will see endless anti-Spurs diatribes. Plus one of your most famous fans, Mr Gallagher, isn't too fond of us I believe. It's great if there is no major anti-Spurs feeling up at Eastlands, maybe the views I've read on Blue Moon are not representative.
Just read this off ESPN soccernet: http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/s...man-city-won't-hammer-spurs-this-time?cc=3436 My favourite part of this: Yet Johnson knows that City are not the neutrals' choice for a new name on the trophy. "Maybe because we have spent so much money, people think we are trying to buy the title,'' he said. Really where did they get that idea?
but I think their antipathy goes back further than that. Certainly Chas and Dave made more records that I like than Oasis, that's for sure.
Team News (from OS): Harry Redknapp described Ledley King as 'doubtful' for Sunday's match at City - but hasn't completely ruled him out. The defender has missed our last six matches since picking up a hamstring injury in training over the Christmas period. "He's not trained, but it's not impossible he could come out and train tomorrow morning," said Harry before training this morning (Friday, January 20). "He’s not fit to train today. He can’t, because of his knee, but he may well come out tomorrow morning, so I wouldn’t write him off. "This is no different to normal. If he comes out tomorrow morning and says ‘I’m okay’, then he’ll play Sunday, if I pick him. That’s how it works. It's amazing, really. It defies everything." William Gallas and Sandro have both been jogging outside as they continue their rehabilitation from calf injuries. "They are not fit yet," reported Harry. "They are running at about 60 per cent, so a little way off yet." Tom Huddlestone has also moved outside as he recovers from a long-term ankle problem. "Apart from that, we're okay," added Harry.
I think this must be the first time in my lifetime that Spurs and Arsenal fans want the other team to win! London 6 points Manchester 0.Wouldn't that be nice. As Eddie Baily used to say before a game..."okay lads, over the top!"
Hi BS9, I'll be wanting Arsenal to lose unless we win at City. I can't see us doing that, so I'll be supporting Utd come 4pm I reckon. Naturally, I hope I'm wrong and I'll be supporting Arsenal, but without Ade it's hard for me to see where we're going to find the necessary forward strength to get an unlikely win.
Couldn't bring myself to want the goons to win ever. United have plenty of opportunities to drop points elsewhere so be patient. As I said to PnP who spouted similar sentiments on another thread "BS9 wash your mouth out with soap". I know most Spurs fans have written the goons off as also rans but we must never drop our guard, a wounded dog is at his most dangerous. Long may the dogs of woolwich suffer.
I'll happily support Arsenal if it's in our interest, but I don't think it will be. As you rightly say Deedub, Arsenal still have the power to inflict enormous damage on us, in this case stop us getting CL football. I can't remember how many points we were ahead of them in 05/6, but I think it was 7, but they had two games in hand or something like that. We're now in a stronger but not unassailable position, only if we beat City will I dare to dream upwards rather than down. Meanwhile the excitement of this game is getting to me, I've just been dancing around the front room doing my version of Robyn's dance to 'Call your girlfriend', roly polys and all
If we lose then a United win is probably in our benefit but no matter what our result I don't want Arsenal to win, top 4 is the priority. We'll win the title next year
Aim high, the top 1 is our target, the top 4 is a consolation prize. A nice consolation prize non the less. This game must be getting to me though, last night I dreamt of the team talk before the match, but it was given by a very young Bill Nicholson rather than 'Arry. Every player knew exactly what they had to do and we went out and slaughtered them.
Well the big day is finally here. Unfortunately I've grown more and more negative about this match as the week has gone on and, right now, I can't see us getting anything from this game. We'll make chances for sure but between Joe Hart and our general wastefulness infront of goal, I think we'll struggle to score. City have too much quality up front and in midfield with players like Silva, Dzeko, Aguero, Balotelli etc. Hell, Mr Nasri (so widely ridiculed this season) always plays well against us and IIRC scored in the 5-1. I seriously think we're just over an hour away from having our asses handed to us again - realistic score prediction? 3-0 City, or if we do well, 3-1 (Of course I'm happy to be proved wrong - it's now gonna be a pleasant surprise if we do get a draw/win this afternoon )
