I don't like the Royal Family but they bring in a hell of a lot of money due to tourism. Cunts from all over the world come to England because of the stuck up twats.
Pish. ****s from all over the world come to Edinburgh to see Holyrood Palace and the likes. They don't come here to see the Queen. That's bullshit put forward by the Royalists.
They come to see the Castles & the like not the actual family.....they can still come & see the castle, the royals could get there own business going doing a tour of their properties rounnd the UK for the yanks & the like
How much of a burden are they really on the tax payer? is it not something like £41m per year from public money they get?? which is not a great deal of our own personal money we paay in taxes going to them.. They too pay tax on their own income from private sources I believe. When you counter balance it against against what they bring to the country in tourism and the work they do for awareness of charities I dont think given the size of the population if all they receive from tax is 41 million.. I probably throw more money at homeless smackheads begging on the street per year than what my tax contribution to the royal family is.
£41m is not alot of money? Tell that to the folk who are in year long queue for an operation!! There are many, many better ways to spend this money. The Queen sticks about £5m straight in to her ****ing bank apparently!
£41m my arse. They conveniently miss out the cost of security etc. It cost £20m+ just for security so Prince Inbred could marry Kate the Commoner.
What people also fail to mention is how much they make themselves on the back of all the land they have & companies they are involved in just for being royalty.
Lord, grant that Marshal Wade, May by thy mighty aid, Victory bring. May he sedition hush, and like a torrent rush, Rebellious Scots to crush, God save the King. And who could forget From France and Pretender Great Britain defend her, Foes let them fall; From foreign slavery, Priests and their knavery, And Popish Reverie, God save us all.
Without them we would lose an awful lot in tourism most of the tourism in this country revolves around them.. going to see the palaces and changing of the guard and such like all these millions of people visiting I dare say would spend far more than 41million... Also if we as a country are looking at ways to save money I would rather the government force local councils to buy the stuff they need from the same sources.. whether its printers, stationary, police cars, fire engines.. But they dont maximise any potential savings by bulk purchasing of anything.. NHS included.. everything is bought from different sources.. it doesnt use economies of scale... Tesco as a company make more profit (used to) because of their buying power why dont the government and councils use the same principles.. Also why are we as a nation giving massive amounts in foreign aid to countries like brazil and India? both up and coming powerhouse economies.. **** giving them aid...
Thats actually a fair point itt was estimated that indirect costs of the royal family bump the amount up to 180 million... So if we were to have a president as head of state we wouldnt provide security? how much do the yanks spend on protecting their president?? probably more than a small countries gdp. another way of looking at it is apparently the Met police spent 31 million in calling the talking clock and a similar amount calling directory enquiries..
We pay for Prince Charles' Highgrove Estate, he grows organic crops and sells them and keeps the profits. That's democracy for you. As for the Royals/tourism argument, that's been proven wrong so many times I can't even be bothered getting into it again.
Why would we lose tourists without the royals? This baffles the **** out of me - more people visit Versailles each year than any of the Queen's residences and they chopped the heads off their antiquated "Gods on Earth" a few hundred years ago. Do people only come to Buck Palace when the Queen's in residence? I don't live near any Royal Households - how, precisely, does the economy of Glasgow and Paisley benefit from the Royal family, especially given that, over the past two years, two national holidays have been declared from them whilst the Tories wish to do away with Mayday - a Socialist holiday first celebrated in the UK in Glasgow?
See my previous post, tourists come to look at the big castle not the old woman in a Marks & Spencers dress, the castles would remain as an attraction. I agee about the aid also. India has its own ****ing space program & we're sending them money??? They don;t even have a proper tax system either which doesn't help their finance!
But without them being royal residences the tax payer would still pick up the bill for maintaining them. its not like they will be demolished.. I would rather have the monarchy than a president.. think they do more good than bad for the country. .
The royals would keep them as part of their redundancy, any they didn't want would still attract tourists or be sold off. Need an elected head of state imo, its all well & good saying the Queen does nothing as head of state - so whats the point of her???
How much would a president cost? How much does it cost to maintain large buildings for presidential use and to entertain visiting foreign dignitaries? How much to transport a president and their entourage back and forth from function to function? These are fair enough payments to come out of the public purse so if we can arrive at a figure for that, that's how much we should be funding the royals to do all of that stuff.
