How about this classic piece from Soccernet: 10.28 GMT Couple of goalkeeping links. Daily Mirror says QPR want Spurs' Heurelho Gomes to be good and then bad, while the Daily Mail says that Spurs want Newcastle's Tim Krul, when Brad Friedel retires at 100.
Krul's name keeps coming back - don't suppose I can take credit for mentioning his name in mid-November? Just to see if this works both ways, has anyone heard about Liverpool offering £15m for Victor Moses?
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/7439786/Defoe-cools-Spurs-exit-talk Key quote: "At the end of the day it's not a case of me saying I want to go here, I'm not playing, I want to leave the club. I've been here six years, I've never said that once. I think the fans know that. It's just a case of me playing. I could understand if I was 19, 20 and I had time on my hands but I'm 29 now and, like I've always said, all I want to do is play football. It's as simple as that." This Defoe situation is beginning to concern me and I feel sorry for him really - he's a quality striker of the ball (on form, he's a 20+ goal a season striker in my book). It's been discussed on forums many times why he plays second fiddle to Adebayor or Van der Vaart but it's annoying that he doesn't get more game time. Van der Vaart, for all he offers, hasn't really delivered lately (especially in terms of goals) and yet he still gets picked - problem with VdV is is that he moans when he's not playing too! It's admirable that they're so eager to play I suppose. I'm rambling now but if you want the TL;DR version - I don't want Defoe to go (especially if we were then to keep Pav)
This is pure bollocks, he forced a move to Portsmouth the last time he wasn't getting game time when Keano and Berbs were smashing them in.
He was 4th choice and barely getting a sniff, I doubt he had to force the club to sell their 4th striker for £9mill when he arguably couldn't even play with 2 of the other 3.
Just because he may have been justified in asking for a move, the statement in bold is still a lie. Why is it that we have 3 strikers, two of whom are unhappy about not being regulars, while Man Utd have 5 (at least) and not one of them complains about lack of game time, even Berbatov.
Rooney threatens to leave every December, whilst both Ravel Morrison and Paul Pogba are both muttering to the press because they aren't games. However, less is made of this because MUPLC are central to the football system in this country (as are Chelsea and Man City), at present we aren't.
Just lifted from SS clockwatch: Reports in Italy suggest that the Amauri saga is set to end today as he appears set to join Fiorentina from Juventus. Had been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League. Cross this off the list.
I'm happy about the Amauri deal, if that's true. was never keen on that one. no interest in Berbatov either, PNP. as i said in earlier posts, I personally think we've got to be signing the players that take us to the next level. It's very difficult for us for the reasons we're all aware of, but Levy and 'Arry have clearly managed to do it so far, as we've continued to progress! may the posts on transfer speculation continue, but we'll still be here on deadline day watching this: please log in to view this image
Wellbeck's demanding £60k per week as well. Not exactly the picture of harmonious co-existence there, is it?
Today's gossip: BBC: Tottenham's Mexican attacking midfielder Giovani dos Santos, 22, is a target for Spanish side Villarreal - http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-n...villarreal-set-their-sights-tottenham-outcast Sky Sports: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/7440236/Agent-denies-Corluka-Juve-deal ...and that's it - all quiet today... ------------------------- Good news about Amauri - looked him up on wiki and youtube and he didn't really impress me - certainly not enough for me to say signing him would 'improve us.' It's now the 19th and still very little has happened (with us and the EPL in fact) - preparing for a bumper 31st perhaps?
Exactly what I was getting at above mate. we'll be watching Gary Cotterill bringing us news (or lack of it) all day. there's not really been any movement in the window at all yet. everyone's waiting for someone else to make the first move and set the pricing benchmark. as usual, we'll be in touch with other clubs on the last day pushing a deal through at 10.59pm!!!
10:59pm.... SSN: "And a bit of breaking news for you here on SSN - we go live to Gary Cotterill outside Spurs Lodge..." Gary: "Thanks - well we've just seen Lionel Messi of all people turn up here - he shook Harry Redknapp's hand and then went inside!" SSN: "Incredible news from Spurs Lodge - so Messi is going to sign for Tottenham then Gary? On a permanent or loan deal?" Gary: "Well whilst nothing has been officially confirmed, the rumour I'm hearing is that Messi has signed a 4 year contract with the transfer fee expected to be around £4m." SSN: "Wheeler dealer Harry at it again then?!" Gary: "It certainly looks that way *laughs* - when I know more and everything's confirmed I'll be in touch!" SSN: "Thanks Gary *turns to co-presenter* - incredible news from Tottenham" 11:30pm: Spurs press conference: Harry: "Well I've been watching him (Messi) for a while and I thought 'why not?' - so I got on the phone to Daniel and he sorted it all out. Lionel's a top, top player without doubt." -------------------------------- Something like that?
dont be silly moorph, we need players to take us to the next level, not another squad player like pienaar!
