Not a rumour, just a wish. I am a big fan of Sturridge Awesome striker who is frustrated by his lack of opportunities as a striker for Chelsea. This guy has proven he can score goals, is a neat and natural finisher and has great pace. Could be a great move for us.

Can't see Chelsea letting him go. He is British but not average, so not the sort that we look for. <ok>

Or offered to take Torres as the fee for us signing Sturridge.

Then we sell Torres for £50million again and double Andy Carrolls wages.

Not happening, I'm sure we'd have asked the question during the Torres and Meireles sales. I think they'd want at least 25 (10 of which is English player inflation).

I wish he had been part of the transfer in the Torres deal, but can't see Chelsea letting him go now. He's the only forward they have that is any threat at the moment.

Yet he is frustrated at a lack of opportunities.

this guy is now what we really want... he's a big time charlie. didn't he leave city for "first team football" and turn odwn bolton for jus tthat opportunity this summer?

I think you'll find the bright lights interest him and so does money.

we want a guy with the tlaent but who is on the way up not already arrived like sturridge is, less ego to deal with.

sorry to go off topic but someone metioned meireles above, does anyone know what actually happened there ? i recall him holding his finger to his mouth after scoring at anfield post contract negotiation issues and Lucas tried to get him to shut up.

Not sure if its true but apprentley he was made promises that his contract would be reviewed and given a raise if he performed in his maiden season, the new owners then came in and it was then in dispute. My question is does anyone know if this was the real reason he left & if so how much more did he actually want ?

I find it incredible that we let him go if this was the case espeacially if we factor in that we played really well with raul in the team & obviously the fact we spent **** loads on the team anyway.

To be honest Id be happy splashing £25-30 mil on him (not from my personal savings though!) - looks like the best young striker in the EPL.

It wont happen, but we can live in hope <ok>

Why not? If Chelsea sign Hazard then Sturridges chance's of regular first team football will be lessened, there is a story going around that he already want's to leave.

He's only 1 year younger than Aguero and a year older than Sturridge so he is not that young. I don't understand why you don't go for foreign players because that is where you have had your successes recently. Put it this way, would you want to pay more for Sturridge than you did for Suarez?

Hard to answer considering Suarez was an absolute bargain in today's market...

Plus the fact he isn't even a striker, and the fact he's a bit of a flat track bully at the moment.

Mata for £21 million? Cisse for £10 million? Parker for £7 million? Enrique for £6 million? There are a few obvious exceptions but the market doesn't seem that bad at the moment in my opinion.

Its all about how much contract is left now, clubs are more willing to lose a player if they can make some money off them rather than nothing at all. I'm sure that Arsenal could have got more for Nasri in the summer if it werent for the fact his contract was coming to an end.

On some of those you mentioned tho; Mata, Valencia are in a well documented financial trouble and were willling to take any bid over 20mil for a player looking to leave.
Cisse, dont know much about him but the French league isnt the strongest and we've seen loads of French (or players from the French league) flop. Is 10mil really such a good deal, we'll wait and see when he actually starts for Newcastle.
Parker, West Ham had been relegated, Parker wanted to leave, he's the wrong side of 30 and 'arry drives a hard bargin. 7mil is perhaps about right and he has proved to be worth it for the spuds.
Enrique, dunno how we managed to pull that one off but after the whole Carroll thing I think we deserved this one.

Cisse is coming in from the Bundesliga and from Freiberg. I think he is 1 in 2 kind of guy there. Although, we got Voronin on a free and he bangd them in for fun before he got to us AND when he went out on loan, but just not for us!!!

Also, Parker wasn't going to leave London as well.

Well the point is that there are lots of bargains around if you look hard enough and I think we've both ended up agreeing on that.
