As most of you will know, i'm not a big fan of Rene Gilmartin's goalkeeping skills, though i've heard he's a lovely bloke. That aside, this latest display at Yeovil seems all too familiar to me. A goal that should never have been, followed by a great save, followed by a let off...hmm...

    What do you think?

Honestly I don't think Rene was brought to the club to be anything other than No. 2, Loach's patchy form over the last couple of years means we have never been likely to sell him which is fine because at this level he is still a good keeper despite his faults. I also think the club are now starting to see Bond as a long term possibility and are happy to have him as No. 2 (hence Gilmartin going on loan instead of Bond). As such if a league 1 or 2 club want Rene as their No.1 I suspect he will move on at the end of the season.

i'm sure Rene had his sights set on being number one at some stage, and would have been pretty hopeful when Loach had his 2 weeks off. I feel for him, but he's just not up to it, and i agree, i think Bond will be number 2 before long.

I must admit to being a bit puzzled when we bought RG in the first place as he was back-up at Walsall to Jimmy Walker who seems to have been there since before my eldest was born but I was willing to give him a chance on the basis that we were probably buying his potential. The problem is that he is a year older than Loach and judging on past performances of his that I've seen, if Loach was out injured for a long time then I'm not comfortable with him between the sticks. I haven't seen Bond play so I don't know how good he is, but to be called up to a full international squad without making a club game at first team level means that he must have done enough at age levels for Gary Speed to call him into a Wales squad that, at the time, was on the up.

I think that display sums up RG pretty well. In the games i have seen him play he has made at least one mistake and often it leads to a goal. At least SL's mistakes come few and far between. I think i would be happier when Bondy is no2.

    He's back with us......
Does that mean they don't want him or because of impending Transfer for him or SL?

We need someone in who can push for the No1 jersey, young Bond is for the future. It certainly looks like RG's days are numbered, I have said before we need an older experienced keeper in to help SL and too push him as he has got the jumper at the moment without any real competition other than young Bond.

And the manager is infamous for giving younger members of the squad a chance.

Johnson is back in charge at Yeovil and I suspect that he does not care for Watford Football Club that much - might have something to do with a vacancy here where he was touted as favourite - I think Boothroyd got the job?
