After a bad nights sleep and with this Howson saga running through my head, I had time to think. I was more upset when the likes of T.Currie, cantona, sheridan, snodin, batty left the club. I don't like the way things are being done at the club at the moment, but there have been better players than Howson who have gone over the seasons. The club will always(touch wood) be here, players/managers/chairmen will come and go and we the fans will always be loyal to LEEDS UNITED.
Shako, all of that is true, but does it change anything? We've still failed to negotiate terms with a Leeds lad. Our captain! We've still sold him at the first opportunity for 500k, possibly rising to 2m based on **** that will never happen in years to come. And we'll doubtless see that miserable fee go on ****ing building works. We've lost one of our key playmakers and midfield grafters who scored 10 times last season. We've lost our manager's favourite, first name on the teamsheet. Bates is nicking players from under his manager's oversized nose for God's sake! If that's what the manager-chairman relationship has come to, it's a joke. Howson's not an established top class player like the ones you mention, but he's always said he's Leeds, and that's why this is such a bitter pill to swallow. Only Sheridan of the ones you mention could be classed as the first name on the teamsheet in the same way Howson is for Grayson, right? And wasn't his fee reinvested anyway? It's a debacle, and no amount of perspective will change what I think about Bates' actions in selling him.
its not the quality of the player he is allowing to leave. its the fact that the player (Self confessed Leeds fan for life, club captain & longest serving player) actually wanting to leave?!?! He wants to leave the club he has loved his entire life & the only team he has ever played for? Very ****ing strange!!
Jud he wants to leave for the money IMO. I can't prove that though. Smith said he'd never play for scum. Means nothing nowadays if you love the club or not. I just wish someone would come out and tell the fans wtf is really happening.
We'll have to agree to disagree regarding Snodin, although I just picked a few names that I was pissed off about leaving, we will all have our favourites. I forgot to include D.McKenzie. Howson will be replaced and we'll carry on. I remember not so long ago that there were fans having a go at him.

Unfortunately I'm obviously not in the know. It was just what I was thinking, I wasn't claiming it to be fact. I'm just an ordinary fan and not privy to all the ins and outs involving transfer deals that happens behind closed doors. If he loves Leeds he'd sign.
We all say we'd play for nothing or 500 quid a week. But in reality, when you become a footballer, that changes and its your profession. Maybe he loves his wife and kid more, and doing whats best for career. Whether we like it or not Norwich is a miles better prospect than us at the moment, and doesnt look like changing anytime soon
The money is always going to be a nice perk but it's crystal clear to me that it's because the club refuse to match his ambition. His ambitions aren't even unrealistic for a club of our stature. Premier League football should be number 1 priority and the club doesn't seem to give a **** whether or not we get there. And by club we all know who we mean. He is the club after all, the arrogant senile old prick.

It's only speculation. Unless you know Howson or his agent or bates, no one really knows whats going on. I'd never expect him or any player to play for nothing. I'm as frustrated as anyone FFS I've seen a lot of **** and good things happen at this club over the years. Howson is just another name leaving. He'll be replaced and we'll move on. Bates is a scumbag, but what the **** can we do.
Ambition, joining Norwich. Norwich IMO will just be another team making up the numbers in the prem, if he was good enough the top 6 sides would have been in for him.
He'll be replaced with someone who isn't even close to good enough, and then we'll get criticised for not being happy. I remember Bates making a snide comment to us about transfer fees where he referenced the Nunez signing saying something "if only he'd cost £2 million" or something like that. Ye well I'm glad he didn't because he's ****ing ****. Just like the rest of the not-quite-good-enough signings we get because we can't afford **** while all the money is being earmarked for pointless projects and a retirement fund that will never get used because he'll die before he retires.
