    Morning ALL,
Well I've finally taken the plunge, and yes KSFC it is I, yours & Woodie13's tuck shop. <laugh>

Anyways on to the subject matter. I, like most, enjoy a good sing at SMS, but I've noticed that of late the songs don't keep going because the drummer boys at the back keep speeding the beat up. Earlier in the season we had some quite long renditions of "Oh When The Saints Go Marching In"....., the boys kept it going & you do find people that people who don't normally clap & chant suddenly find themselves joining in & IMO this creates a brilliant atmosphere all around the stadium.

The other song that should be kept at a steady speed is "Nigel Adkins Red & White Army (We Hate Pompey)........again IMO if you keep it at a steady speed, more people join in and the atmosphere really builds. Just a thought, interested to see what you all think.

Will be there in my seat Tuesday singing my heart out against Yeovil (yes with the tucker KSFC)

See you mentioned Woodie and co, just remember to tell all your friends where the Saints fans are now to be found.....Enjoy

Thank you for the welcome Beddy:emoticon-0148-yes:

I'm normally more of a reader than a writer. I must admit I do enjoy some of the posts you & the likes of OldDellBoy & co. put up from the old 606 & on here. Hopefully this site will stay reasonably free of the sillyness that was on the old one.

Amen to that......We do have and have had some of our Pompey friends on here that used to excel at the wumming side of things. They have agreed though to shelve their natural craving for a wind up to a more critical Debate and banter. To give them their due they have kept to their side of the bargain to a man. Even the single time we did have a problem they helped to calm things down. So they deserve credit. It is far better if we all stick together perhaps we can take the heat out of a situation so avoid a lot of the nastiness that can happen. We have additional facilities of course on this site. If swearing is not to your liking you have a swear button down the bottom left. So far have not really needed it on our site. Also you have an ignore function so that if someone is really being obnoxious you can put them on your ignore list and then you will not need to see their posts. A brilliant thing in my view.

I have made it clear that I feel swearing is nomally not acceptable, but I won't us the swearing facility because on some occasions the use of the right word in the right context can be exremely funny, and I hate to lose the nuance of a really good post.

The songs that we have all seem to come to a natural stop for some reason. I mean, it isn't exactly Shakespear, but, "we all love Saints, we all love Saints" repeated over and over getting louder and louder could be good. I have to say that it seems to work for Leeds. If the song keeps going it makes it much difficult for the away fans to get their own chants going.

Years ago our song "oh when the Saints etc" was distinctly ours.......no other team would sing it. but now-a-day's it doesn't seem to matter and any tom dick or harry will sing it if their team name will fit in with the words. Spurs are a classical example. What ever happened to their "cock a doodle do" song they used to sing years ago. At least with Pompey you have the "Pompey chimes", West Ham "I'm for ever blowing Bubbles", or Brighton "Seagulls". We should take our song back and re stamp our name on it.

Completely agree, with the speed. It's really frustrating as well, as someone said towards the beginning of the season we used to get OWTS going for a good 20 minutes, and people do tend to join in. Another song that always seems to speed up too quickly and become impossible to keep going, is "Red and white, Barmy Army!" It's fine for about 6/7 rounds, then it just gets ridiculously quick and then fades out. Shame really because we are really capable of getting St Marys rocking sometimes.

Oh When The Saints is fantastic sang slowly , but after one verse people seem to think it's time to speed it up.

GET IT RIGHT!! = It's TWO verses slowly then the quicker version.

Agreed, the songs latley cut out after a verse whereas before we would sing and chant the same song for a few minutes. I noticed at Colchester that when a song started If I started to clap and sing then most around me would do the same. i think as soon as someone hears someone else near by singing then they will join in too. I remember last season we had OWTS going on for ages which created a great atmoshpere. Hope we create big atmoshpere tomorrow!! COYR

Last season my then 6 yo son often asked why when he started singing nobody used to join in. ( Behind the goal in the Chapel) Hard to explain but then he started singing 2-4-6-8 and I was surprised to see a few around us joining in.

I agree that too much speed will kill a song before it starts.

I sit in block 41 and have noticed a large part of 42 try and keep it slow but most of 41 and kingsland north speed it up! Its just a matter of time and we might get it right lol!

We should do OWTS 2 times over slow and then kick in faster! When we do it right its effective

TBH atm any noise is good , we have been quiet! Come on lads lets get behind the boys!!!!
