Of course there's evidence you tit. Do you have absolutely any idea what you're talking about?

Melatonin resists UV light from the sun. The ONLY thing which changes the colour of your skin is the amount of melatonin in it. Funnily enough, Africa has extremely high temperatures and levels of sunlight. The bodies of early humans in Africa adapted to resist the UV rays of the sun by considerably increasing the amount of melatonin in the skin. It's called evolution.

Not only is it proven, but it's also common sense.

Yeah, we agree on a lot here I think. The grey areas you refer to are pretty much the basis of my opinion on the matter too. For the first; if you can't really pinpoint something then it can't really be properly outlawed. For the second; I find racist remarks extremely difficult to stomach, but then if somebody told me they loved rape and *****philia, I'd find that just as disturbing and hard to stomach. Why arrest somebody for one thing and not the other? Should we ban all morally ambiguous speech? If we did that, then what sort of dystopian state would we be headed towards living in?

I'm with trevornufc on this. Put simply freedom of speech comes with responsibility just as freedom of action does.

I recognise the rights of people to do what they like with their body but that does not mean somebody can punch another person and then claim in their defence "they are my fists I claim the right to do what I like with them".

Words and opinions can hurt and do damage that is just as real and as such society has to accept that there are boundaries that should not be crossed and if necessary legislation to punish those who do.

The difficulty as with all things such as this is finding the right boundary without becoming a nanny state. Which is where the points raised by skalpel become major problems indeed. It is a thorny issue but I firmly believe that some sort of legal control is necessary.

Totally agree with this bit, I just don't think it should be up to the government to ban people from saying certain things. If you say something stupid - expect to get told how stupid it was and have your arse handed to you by a person with a shred of common sense.

Exactly this. Dunno what that bloke was on about but yeah, Chappaz has it there.

I don't know why Asians have thinner eyes though, if anyone has a clue?

There's a lot of small writing in Asia?

There used to be theories based around protection from high winds (flying sand, grit etc) and protection from light reflecting off snow. Don't know if these are still held as true or have been debunked.

Not certain but it seems plausible given that there are a number of indigenous animal species that have similar traits.

Everyone has the right to say what they think to others, regardless of what the speech may contain. To deny anyone this right is a cruel injustice. I'm not defending racism here, but locking people up for a racist view/slur won't actually effect what they think, it will only make them learn how to be more discreet, which takes the government back to square one.

That one is a little bit trickier. Some people think it's to protect the eyes from the very harsh winters in Asia, and/or to protect the eyes from snow blindness.

<ok> Well put. Censorship never removes the problem, it just hides it.

It also hides the insecurities of the government. Stamping down on something that needs nothing more than a fine to show some form of control over the country, when in fact it's taking the focus away from the bigger picture like the recession we're currently in.

It's a really hard thing to decide.

I personally don't like it how a lot white men in this country now are afraid to say the word "black" in fear of being called a racist and getting done.

Black people could run around saying "**** off you white ****" and no one would care, but if you're white and you even mention something slightly funny about a black man, a tonne of **** comes down on you.

In my work place every time I said "black" I shat myself and lost track of what I was talking about.

This is a good point but you still have to respect each different greed and culture and people have to respect that, for instance if someone has a disability they will jokingly call them a ****** but if someone random calls them that, they will turn around and smack the random person one.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that arresting someone for racist remarks will influence how that person regards race - frankly, I don't think any anti-racism law exists to change the opinions of racist people. It's instead in place to reprimand them for disrespecting or hurting those they direct their racist remarks to. I know at first glance it seems drastically different to arrest someone for speaking racist remarks to someone, and to arrest them for punching someone; but really how is it different? In both instances, the person inflicted pain upon another person, and by arresting them you are sending a message to others in society that we as society do not allow such disregard for one another within that society. It may be true that the racist will instead keep those racist sentiments to themselves, just as someone will instead choose to harbour their violent thoughts; but in both respects, someone is protected from pain inflicted upon them, and ideally over time racist sentiments will decrease as the message loses its medium.

We are a team of dreamboats :D in all seriousness, one idiot will not spoil my mood. We have just signed a prolific striker, sit 6th in the league and are winning games. This person is obviously not fit for society so I refuse to discuss him further.

Your squad isn't great on paper, but Arsene always guides you to the Champions League. Has done literally every season since he came hasn't he? That's amazing really.
