Yes it is. You are free to say what you want if you are prepared to live with the consequences. Call a black man a ****** if you want but be prepared to get a broken nose, and to be despised by most of your peers and written off as an idiot. You can't censor peoples opinions just because you don't agree with them, debate with them and show them they are wrong rather than just locking them in jail. Solves nothing.

There is no difference in someone being racist on a public website (twitter, facebook or whatever) than them going into a busy street with a loudspeaker and shouting racist abuse. So no, it should not be ignored, the internet has enough dickheads, we dont need one more either.

Why won't anybody listen to me? There's a connection between black people and longer tendons. That is as far as any 'black advantage' exists. Anything else is wrong! Including this. Mate, you sound racist.

No. Black people do have genetic differences, but that's down to evolution over hundreds of thousands of years. Hunting in their native countries was very different to ours (different animals and habitats), so they had to develop more speed and more strength. That's created the genetic differences we see today.

It's the same sort of genetic difference which is why black people are black in the first place, and it's all down to the African climate. Early humanoid animals had full body fur over white skin which helped to resist the sunlight, but made temperature regulation very difficult due to the insulation of the fur. Over time, the early humans evolved out of the fur, but then their skin was exposed to the very strong sunlight, so they then evolved heavy melatonin production to help the skin resist the sun, and this turned the skin black.

The notion of a couple hundred years of slave labour changing the genetics of the entire black population is just, well, stupid as **** basically. Really, really stupid as ****.

Going back to my main point, having this as a national news headline for all the black nufc players and Cisse himself to see and read into, is an absolute joke. Nobody needed to know these idiots views. Totally ignorable.

    Doesnt help or aide anyone.

It does. It shows that Society has standards and is not prepared for any moron to say whatever they want under the pretext of freedom of speech as opposed to their being bigotted and prejudiced.

The fact that there are laws in place restricting what people can say such as in relation to racism shows there is not an absolute freedom of speech for all people. We as a Society have essentially said you can say what you like but respect others otherwise the law will punish you. This effectively is freedom of speech but with responsibilities. That is where we as a Society stand.

I agree that you literally cannot stop people saying whatever they want but if you go too far then the law can step in and should step in.

It is a fallacy to say freedom of speech means you can say whatever you want because quite simply that is not the case.

Sorry to harp on about this but it is something I feel very strongly about for personal reasons. I will now shut up and leave my position as stated.

It all depends on what this guy said really. There's a difference between "there are a lot of black men in the team" and "there are too many black men in the team".

Simply pointing out that there is a large number isn't really racist. It's a bit strange, but not racist.

In fact, if you look at the first choice XI:

    --------------------Krul
    Simpson --- Saylor --- Coloccini --- Santon
--Ben Arfa --- Cabaye --- Tiote --- Jonas
    ----------------Ba --- Cisse-----------

There's only four black guys there, so I dunno what the **** that bloke is going on about.

As for the rest of the side:

    Sammy Ameobi
    Shola Ameobi
    Marveaux
    Perch

That's nothing to me, so I don't get it?

Now if you look at foreign/non-foreign players, it's a different story:

    --------------------Krul
    Simpson --- Saylor --- Coloccini --- Santon
--Ben Arfa --- Cabaye --- Tiote --- Jonas-----
    ----------------Ba--- Cisse------------------

We've went from having quite an English team to only having two English guys in the XI. Not a bad thing mind, just an interesting observation.

Pretty much agree with trevornufc on this one. Arresting and punishing people shows that the various authoritative institutions are against racism which sets an impression to people as a whole that it isn't to be tolerated and will lead to a moral progress in society, (I hope!).

<ok> I've never actually looked into why blacks differ from us and this was an interesting read.

I understand the basis of your opinion entirely but there are a few things I'd look at here:

How do you decide what is racism and what isn't? When speech is such an arbitrarily interpreted thing, how can you tell if certain things were intended to be racist or mere observations about race?

Do you not think that censoring people's opinions on things will not merely fuel the fire that already exists within them? Do you not think racists would feel even more aggrieved about the supposed 'thought police' and 'stupid political correctness gone mad' invading their beliefs?

And for me, the most important question here is where does this 'moral progress' end? I also find it to be disgusting that anybody could find, say, *****philia to be funny. If somebody makes a comment online about how they find it hilarious, should they be arrested? I say absolutely not. Once a government starts imposing morals about speech onto a country, I think we're entering dangerous territory.

I've been thinking about this and haven't managed to come to a definite opinion on it, but I can say that if it's an remark that has reasoning behind it, regardless of the offence caused, it should be considered free speech such as 'scientific' studies by some associated with the BNP, but remarks with intent to incite hatred are unacceptable. It's an extremely grey area, I admit.
I think they would, but I'd like to think (optimistically) that the effect of the majority of people being opposed to racism, with a clear message from the state that it is unacceptable, would continue to lessen racism in society from generation to generation. It's an optimistic view but I think most people who lived through the 50s, 60s, 70s till now would say it has worked to an extent.

Again, a very grey area that I can't really answer. Some people would say comedians like Frankie Boyle or Bernard Manning should be arrested, but like you say, I don't agree.

You have helped to sway my opinion on the matter, but there's just part of me that can't accept racism used in the context of free speech. Difficult to define and very open to interpretation though. I'll need a think <laugh>

Dont be so easily swayed, there is NO PROOF of why black people are black, whites are white, chinese people look chinese, purely speculation.

    NO PROOF OR EVIDENCE.
