No thanks i'd rather we take the space invaders for Carroll and use half in a swap deal for Heskey....we then play the half bag of yummy pickled onion flavoured treats up front as it would be an improvement on the 5-5-0 formation from last weekend and we can utilise Heskey to scare away pigeons from the training ground win-win me thinks.
Since 2007/08 season and Torres arrival in The Premier League his games/goals ratio (in all competitions) is; Played 184 - Goals - 94 = 1 goal every 1.96 games Over the same period, Darren Bent's games/goals ratio (in all competitions) is; Played 145 - Goals - 80 = 1 goal every 1.81 games I wouldn't just swap Andy Carroll for Darren Bent. I'd swap Fernando Torres for him too. It's always a mystery to me why one of the traditional top 4 haven't signed him. His form 'dipped' at Spurs but Martin Jol did not play him often and instead preferred to use Defoe, Keane and Berbatov.
No mate not a fan of him. And to the OP Carroll over Bent for me I'm not a fan of Bent and still think Carroll will come good.
I agree with Luv. I don't see Bent as a Liverpool player and I still believe that Carroll will come good. In this window I don't see anybody around at the right money to fill our short term need. But PLEASE neither Bent nor Defoe
But Carroll is not Ricketts. Here are a couple of interesting quotes: Allardyce was sad at his demise. "It's always sad to lose a player you feel you've helped. I took great pleasure in him playing for England, but I've got great dissatisfaction with what's happened to Michael since." Hinting at problems with his representatives, Allardyce added: "His decline has been based on a lot of false promises by other people. It affected him and affected us. "They told him what he could get and where he could get it, what other clubs might do for him. That has taken his focus away from what should have been his only aim ? scoring goals for this football club. "If he'd carried on as he was going, we'd have benefited more financially and Michael would have benefited because, with respect to Boro, a bigger club would have taken him." Daily Mail Michael Ricketts article Those who liken Carroll to Michael Ricketts â the former Bolton Wanderers striker who, a decade ago, briefly took Premier League defences by storm, won an England cap and then swiftly disappeared almost without trace â conveniently ignore a significant difference. While Ricketts concedes he fell out of love with football, Carroll's friends are vehement that, if a certain immaturity, homesickness and lack of match fitness have undeniably held him back, disinterest and disengagement are definitely not among the £35m man's problems Guardian Andy Carroll Article
Interesting article on cutting your losses on underperformers: http://football365.com/f365-says/7440915/Cut-The-Cord-With-Underperformers... I know f365 like to kiss fergies arse and slate liverpool at any given oppurtunity but still, its an article.
He'd actually be a good fit at stoke, playing devil's advocate would you swap him for peter crouch & matty etherington ? Not that they'd ever agree to that.
