ffs I said fans deserve success because of their loyalty, and for sticking behind the team, I never said any club or team belongs there though.

But unfortunately football doesn't always give you what you deserves.

Never mentioned anything about us having the right to be at the top, I'm saying the fans that stuck behind the team whilst it was doing ****, deserve to be rewarded.

No they don't. Just because i'm stupid enough to fork out money for shirts, tickets etc doesn't mean i should be rewarded in any way at all, I don't follow football to be rewarded or I would have started to support Man Yoo ages ago. <laugh> It's just not how it works.

No. I think I just used the wrong title. It wasn't my intention to sound like we have a divine right to be here. I was just suggesting, rather tongue in cheek, that it feels like we have someone watching over us. Some footballing deity who is willing us back to 'where we belong' ;)

Have had more than our fair share of luck this season too, especially in the tight matches.

People would prefer to see us up there and building properly than people who throw money like City

1 relegation in how many years? Plenty of big names stars, title challenges, European adventures....

Yeah, you lot have really suffered over the years. Its a shame a lot of you don't realise this.

As for fan base, this can fluctuate greatly for any given number of reasons, and ultimately means nothing. It is easier to support a team doing well than it is a bad team.

And why should Leeds be in the top half of the PL, just because they used to be good?

Man Utd (biggest in the world)
Arsenal (Success, history, big crowds, London)
    Liverpool (success and history)
    Chelsea (money, London factor)
    Man City (££££££)
and just behind that Newcastle (crowds) and Spurs (history, London) .
At the moment they happen to be all in the top end of the Premier league.
Someone asked me today, are Newcastle lucky to be where they are? I said, "well the league table can lie after 5-6 games but not after 20. They deserve their position". You can get some luck over a few games but it will even out over 38 games.

Not true. Otherwise it wouldn't be considered luck really then would it? And since we are talking about league position, why aren't Everton, Sunderland and Villa not in there, as they have had more success and history in terms of league titles than Chelsea, Man City, Spurs and Newcastle.

Teams end up where they are because of their management and ability.

You've just said teams end up where they are because of management and ability, but when disagreed with a guy who said that luck isn't involved?

On the subject of inconsistent, you just said we don't have a divine right to be near the top but we are now back where we belong.

    Pot ... kettle ...?

There's a difference between thinking that we're back where we should be, and thinking that we have a divine right to be there.

    Hel ... met ...?

Oh christ man it's just a turn of phrase. I'm not going to start going into the dictionary definition of 'belong'.

Fair enough and I don't blame you either <laugh>

I'm going to ignore the whole delusion/ego thing regarding our position btw because I think you have already taken enough stick re that but would take issue with the whole idea of luck and the guardian angel thing getting us back to where we are.

I think that sells short the excellent work and good decisions made by a whole load of people whether they be MA, Hughton & Pardew, the coaches, other backroom staff and players. They made the decisions and did the biz on a daily basis to get us back to where we are. Superstitious mumbo jumbo has nothing to do with it.

Leeds, Forest and the Sheffield clubs obviously lacked some of this, that is the only difference between us and them.

It was a joke. If you think I was genuinely suggesting that a god or guardian angel was watching over us then I just give up on the human race, I really do.

Read my post. I said we've been so fortunate it feels like we have someone watching over us. I didn't suggest that we do.

I didn't mean it like that you ****ing idiot.

I don't follow football to be rewarded either, but I personally believe that our fan base deserve success by how it stuck by the team through the ****, and stayed loyal.

    My opinion.

I understand what you are saying but you must believe that luck and not judgement has a big part to play otherwise you wouldn't feel anything of the sort ... which is my point. I didn't make it well I admit.
