Am sure that Nick Barmby will at least look at it. But its not good to see your best players leaving especially when the owner is not doing much if anything to stop it.
good luck anyway to the decent leeds fans.

We got VERY lucky - we got taken over days before we were going out of business so I know wht its like to be a fan of a badly run club. I still can't believe how far we've come since being taken over.

I used to live in Kingston, the old british aerospace site up towards Richmond <ok>

southamptons future has never looked better. I remember sitting on the net & next to the radio with my best mate (a saints fan) waiting for news if you was going to be no more!

Why didn't the club get players like White, Johnson, Howson etc. tied down before we'd played a Championship game?

I blame the club for offering crap wages and Grayson for failing to identify the potential of these players until they'd proved themselves at this level and had clubs interested.

I remember sleepless nights because I feared that if I went to sleep Saints would no longer exist when I woke up. Horrible times but all in the past thank god.

Bullshit. We're the biggest financial centre outside London and probably the best place to live in England if you want city life which isn't full of ****ers. If Bates didn't needlessly slag off every potential investor and didn't have a record of screwing over creditors, they'd be tripping over each other to get involved with Leeds United. Look how ****holes like Leicester and Hull have managed to get money in their coffers. If those backwaters can get finance, Leeds most certainly ****ing can!

There was that Australian billionaire interested a few years back and then Bates insulted him in his programme notes and we never heard from him again. We'd have a new owner by now if Bates wanted to sell.

No one will invest with Bates and he is not prepared to sell! A few seasons ago there was interest apparently but Bates wanted cash up front before he would even show them the books! I wouldn’t want anyone involved with the club that was that stupid with money again to be fair.

He is bleeding us dry. He hates us with a passion & will sell us after he has stripped us of all the spare change he can get out of us and his selling points will be the done up stadium & the passionate fans. No Thorp Arch, no Elland Road, no funds (they will be tucked away somewhere after being transferred around 5,000 bank accounts so its been cleaned.

IS THIS REALLY ALL BECAUSE WE SMASHED YOUR SCOREBOARD/BIG SCREEN YOU CUUUUUUUUUNT?

Probably just my paranoia but I wouldn’t put anything past Kens Ego.

Rant over, I'm off home.

i must admit, leeds and everton both look to be obvious clubs to take over for someone with plenty of money to throw at a club.

You don't even need to put money into this club for it to be successful. You just don't need to haemorrhage the profits on building schemes like Bates has done. Give the manager the money and it will work itself out as long as it's sensibly invested. In our last League One season (latest set of accounts available), we made 27 million. 63% of that was from the fans in tickets and merchandising. Investment isn't a must, it would just be a bonus. A sane owner would have us in the top 10 of the top flight by now!

And Best Fans, good point about the Aussie billionaire Frank Lowy. One of the best reputations in Australian football, 2bn to burn which he has free now since he's not pledging any of it to any more Aussie olympics applications, and he gets slagged off by our Chairman in his programme notes for a couple of buildings in Bradford which the council fudged their payments for. Insane.

And Bates blames the fans for putting off investors. <doh>

I hear of plenty of folk from where I am in Northampton travelling to Leeds for a weekend away and night life. Northampton is J15 on the M1 we are an hour from London but by all accounts Leeds is the place to go when it comes to good nights out and a good time. Strange as I have a Leeds supporter live opposite me, three mates are both Leeds fans and my brother in law and cousin and his two sons, none of us were born further North than we are now.

<ok>

Leeds is growing fast as well. Our own people's birthrates aren't particularly high (which is obvious because we're a highly developed place), but there are so many migrants coming into the city from around the country, the West Yorkshire metropolis will keep growing. Leeds is the big city outside London for jobs and economic growth. Like you say, great nightlife which surely only London and Newcastle can challenge. Not to mention the architecture, diversions and shopping which all contribute to the place's success.

And I've said before, I always find it weird how many Leeds fans from Northampton there seem to be around the internet! And indeed fans of other clubs which aren't always the Big Four. The poor old Cobblers must have barely anyone supporting them!

PS: The boldened bit did make me laugh! <laugh>

Hi, saints fan in peace. I agree, we are very lucky to have the owners we have. However we dont go at it like a bull in a china shop. It is all steady progression. I dont like the way Leicetser have gone about things.

I have a soft spot for Leeds, always have done. Will be up to Elland Road in March and managed to get my daughter to be saints mascot for the game.

I agree with posts re Bates, you would be prem club but for mis management. I really hope you can sort things out.

We're gonna be protesting before and during the Southampton game, as well as boycotting it. Hope a few Saints fans are sympathetic and join us in chanting 'Bates out' 10 minutes before kickoff outside the ground. Even Boro fans were joining in at our last protest against Bates and they despise Leeds. <ok>
