Yep Howsons contract was running out and as per usual we couldnt table a decent offer so he was going to walk again ala Beckford/Johnson etc. Howson has always divided opinion amongst us Leeds fans. On his game he will win you matches no doubt. He has all the attributes you need to make it as a top player & we blooded him young got games under his belt and gave him the captains armband. Unfortunately he tends to go missing some games. Sometimes a victim of the formation and he has to anchor a bit more than he would like to but never a complaint from Jonny himself. I think we are all pissed that deep down that 2 mil wont be put back in the squad, just like the delph money, Arsenal revenue etc. I wish Jonny all the best to be honest but it still stings. Not his fault if Ken Bates was my boss I would have had to weigh up my ambition vs loyalty as well. In short he is replaceable & 2 mil could plug quite a few holes in the team, but I expect half of that to be reinvested & we will sign someone with an undisclosed fee plus a loanee rather than a young and upcoming home grown, play for the shirt, club captain that will only improve.
Mate we wont see a million of that. Not to mention the Delph money, cup revenues etc etc. Its just a write off IMO. Look at the state of us! Me too. Unleast it was us vs the world. Now the fans are divided & the clubs not getting the attention it needs to thrive. Bates is strangling the life out of us. Wheres the next generation of fans going to come from when all our kids only here us having a pop at the club when we are not actually on the pitch? Bates Legacy is going to live on poisioning our club (not his) for years to come.
Thanks for that, it does seem a bit odd, that, if a player becomes "popular" or "scouted" by other clubs and they are nearing the end of their contract, Bates does seem more than willing to cash in rather than offer a decent contract. I bet he hasn't changed his promotion goal either, i really do feel for Grayson, not because hes a Leicester legend, but because conditions there are not at all easy. Rather than dish out the money between the shareholders, he should actually let Grayson do something with it, or it will reflect badly on Bates relationship with Grayson, as if he doesn't trust him to find the right player. Hope that Snodgrass has a long contract with you guys, as there could be clubs snapping your hand off for him, and it wouldn't surprise me if Bates would take £3m for a man thats worth much more.
