As pleased as i am with getting in our striker i cant help but feel a deal is done behind the scenes and Mike is spending a "portion" of the fee now so as not to get any back lash from the fans like last season.

We have been here before, the feel good factor creeping back in, only for Mike to sweep the rug from under our feet.

I suppose its an opportunity to show if he is in fact ambitious or it will prove the current perception is true, that he is recouping his losses and preparing for a sell on.

If we get to the end of January and none of our players are sold i will be very pleased. I suspect though that either Tiote, Ba or Krul will be away before it closes. I wouldnt put it past Mike to know he is getting in £15-20m for one of that little lot and will therefore be prepared to spend that in this window. £10m on a striker, £5m on a defender or loan options. We were also pursuing a centre mid French player whos club confirmed a bid was rejected.... does that mean one is on his way out?

The links to Pieters, Cissokho, Clyne you can understand with Simpson not signing up and to be fair to Raylor who has stepped in well, he isnt a LB. One of those in and Simpson out for a bit of cash would be a good thing in my eyes.

The link to centre mids.... because Tiote is being chased by Man U and Chelski perhaps? Or cover if Guthrie doesnt sign on?

Krul heavily linked with Spurs, do we have a recall option in for Foster? Is he going to chance his hand with Elliot? Both unproven.... then there are links to Swanseas keeper Vorm......

Demba Ba and this world famous clause..... £10m striker in, £10m for Dembas clause? I hope i am wrong. I would like to see Demba sign a new deal without a clause or at least for an improved value off the back of this seasons performances!!!

Thats my view anyway, eternally the pessimist when it comes to FMA. Cant wait until this window shuts. If we dont sell and continue to strenghten then we could push on for Europe and nab 7th spot!!! That has to be the aim with the start we have had. I would have took top ten start of the season but anything less than 7th now i would be a little disappointed with.

Surely if he was aiming to avoid the backlash from fans he'd buy the number 9 striker after selling someone?

If he had just sold/lost Ba and then bought Cisse straight after. We'd still be gutted but it would make us quickly forget.

Don't forget that the stadium rename, if it ever gets bought, was supposed to get us a £10m player a year. I'm not saying thats what it is, or that we won't sell anyone, but we certainly don't need to sell to balance the books.

Can't we just enjoy signing a good player for what it is, the only reason krul and tiote have been linked with clubs this window is because nothing is happening! Lazy journalists know Ashley would accept a large bid for any player and they need some bullshit to fill there papers with.

Sorry to ruin this but Ashley won't change the stadium name. I don't even believe he ever intended to do that.

its starting to piss me off.. we have had 3 or 4 of these since cisse signed.. one of the biggest signings in a long time.. top quality player and all people want is something just to happen so they can ****ing complain, ffs.

bunch of dickheads, sorry if that comes across of rather harsh people, but its really pissing me off now. most successful season in a long time and there is more whining than ever.

Fair play on the Cisse signing but I can never rest comfortably with MA in charge. At least if you think like me and GDubz you dont set yourself up for disappointment.

I'm not saying 100% that we wont sell anyone because I've been burned before by (now skinny) Mike.

BUT, both Cisse and Demba have expressed their excitement and desire to play alongside eachother after the ACON, this could be a very, very impressive piece of business, this might be exactly the kind of thing we needed to persuade Ba to reject any offers from other clubs that match his release clause and stay with us, while of course its a massive statement of intent to the other guys who still have their new contracts to sign, particularly Coloccini. Not to mention we get one of the best strikers in the Bundesliga for a reasonable price.

However some are saying the reason why Cisse has been bought is because we've already agreed a deal with another club? Doubtful, think of it this way, IF the release clause for Demba is 7-10 million like people say, surely Mike would be more inclined to just keep Demba rather than go through the hassle of selling him and getting another player in for the exact same price. If we're talking about him making profit there would be none to be made. This coupled with my first point above about them wanting to play together, makes me think we'll keep them both till at least the summer, then we can start panicking again.

I dont think Coloccini will be off either tbh and if it is it wont be to a premier league team, but even so hes spent all this time adapting to this league now and I cant see him wanting to leave, not when the team is seriously on the up for the first time since he arrived.

Tiote could be the problem and is the one I'm unsure of, he claims to love it here and doesn't fit in with the hustle and bustle of London, would that be enough not to tempt him elsewhere? How much are other teams willing to pay for him? To be honest hes been poor a lot of times this season and is now in the AcON so not in the shop window to other clubs, I'm not sure clubs will want to spend massive amounts and gamble on a player who's not really been his awesome self apart from the 3-0 against Man Utd. So I'm hopeful on him aswell.

Only time will tell but for once I'm going to stay positive about it all. Deadline day will be horrible :|

I know what you mean but I just can't live feeling that miserable about football. My ticket price is sensible and frozen, my seat is ace, and the football I'm watching is the best in years. Yes, there's always potential for an Ashley catastrophe, but as someone who's lived through Shepherd and previous Ashley really isn't that bad.

I don't actually understand why people think MA will flog anyone worth a few quid. No evidence to suggest this is the case! He has never sold anyone who didn't want to leave and has always managed to get top dollar for any players who are sold. His position is exactly the same as any other club owner, if someone offers silly money for one of his players then he will sell, but ONLY if silly money is offered. Look at Man Utd, even they sold their best player (Ronaldo) when R.Madrid came in with megabucks!

its because alot of our fans want us to linger just above relegation places and have barton and nolan back possibly carroll too... they want us to battle relegation for a few season and then us to be asset stripped and sold, suffer 2 - 3 relegations then go into admin.. and after a while finally cease to exist.... JUST so they can go.. "told you so.. ashley was out to completely destroy nufc, no of you believed me but i was right!"
