Chris Coleman set to land Wales manager's job

Has he been a manager before?

Looks to be favorite for the job. Did he achieve anything while he was manager of Fulham and Coventry?

Sure we all think we're headed for cr@p...
But there were very similar things being said when Gary (rip) was appointed as manager...

So lets pray that we continue as we were under Gary and that we can keep progressing.

he did well at fulham, he was on a a shoestring but kept them in a safe position, as soon as fulham got into the relegation zone, al fayed panicked and sacked him, he can consider himself unlucky there <ok>

as for real sociedad, i believe the chairman of the club changed and was one of those crazy foreign chairman who sign players without the managers consent, and sacked him (?).

larissa, the players / manager werent getting paid so he resigned, i'm not too sure about coventry.

overall, i believe he's been unlucky in his career so far in terms of the chairmen he's had, he's got the best CV out of any welsh manager apart from sparky, as blake said he was good friends with speed when they played for wales together, the only gripe is the sort of football he plays but seeing as he's managed in greece and spain maybe he'll have a more continental style, who knows <ok>

What did Gary Speed achieve before he took the Welsh job?
I haven't seen too many names mentioned and from those I have, CC has the experience. Giggs looks like playing till he drops and Hartson...well, that's just a joke.

Thats true about Gary Speed, we'll just have to wait and see I suppose. Your right about Hartson, he is a joke.

Well said H Bomb, and that's a fair assessment of his career to date Swamp.

I'm not overjoyed at the prospect, but can't think of any alternatives. Speed was unknown in management (apart from a short stint at Sheff Utd), so Coleman has a stronger CV in that respect. However, there's no doubt that Speed was the much more accomplished player with a magnificent career.

Let's give CC a chance, and get behind him as he continues the work Gary started.

Got to give the guy our support, if it's a welsh mananger that's wanted then only Tony Pullis, unless I'm very much mistaken, is better qualified on paper.

I quite like Chris Coleman as a manager and a pundit. Seems like a nice enough bloke and has enough experience to do a good job for us. He also agreed to keep the rest of the staff on didn't he?

Got to give him a chance, the same as we did with Speed - and he confounded his critics.

Bought my ticket for Costa Rica (the game not a holiday) and looking forward to another era.

Luckily Pullis didn't want the job but I bet he was approached. I think everyone agrees Coleman is worth a punt and as mentioned above he's keeping the same backroom staff.

Coventry were certainly in a better place than they are now!! Not sure how much that says for the guy but maybe it shows he was half decent because whoever has had a pop since hasnt done any better as far as i am aware.

in reality, where will we get a (welsh) manager who has a CV to match 4 years of PL management, coached abroad twice and is out of work and wanting the job? as H said, hartson would be a joke appointment..

CC is the only choice really, and i wouldnt be surprised if he is respected by the players in the same way speed was and we continue to climb those rankings <ok>

I admire him for taking the job on, he's gonna be in a no win situation for a while, good luck to him.
