Newcastle have completed the signing of Pappis Cisse.

Yup. They needed replacements for a player going to the ACON, so they signed one. They didn't worry about the impact to Sammy/Shola Ameobi, or Leon Best. They just got their man, because they know that spending cash whilst in a good position is what you should do, so you can build on what you have.

I would really like Newcastle to get into the top four. Rather them than Chelsea or Liverpool, if it can't be us, because they're fans on here are generally very nice and I love the way they play.

But, back on topic... why haven't we signed replacements for the players away? We needed a winger even with Gervinho in the squad, and Chamakh won't be missed and we still need a striker.

One obvious point here is that Cisse's going to the African Nations, too.
Sammy Ameobi's injured for months, so he's more of a replacement for him til the end of the season.
Then the older Ameobi will probably be moved on.

Shola signed a new contract last season. However, he is getting on now. Ranger and Lovenkrands are the people Newcastle seem to want out. Every team who plays 4-4-2 shoul have 4 strikers: Ba, Cisse, Best and Shola. Sammy will most likely get loaned out

If Cisse is as good as FM tells me he is then how the **** did Newcastle get him? And how come even their reserve strikers are better than ours? Jesus christ Wenger :emoticon-0120-doh:

Newcastle's squad is looking better and better. They've certainly invested that Andy Carroll money wisely.

I wouldn't mind having Cisse, to be honest.

  6. That other clubs get their man and we look like also rans is really nothing new. Just look at the management, board and CEO. Our negotiating team of Gazidis n Dick Law look like the pits. Complete keystone duo if you ask me. They're really on another planet. Ground Control to Major Ivan, Ground Control to Major Ivan..... Come in Major Ivan

    What an ass.

Cisse is top class. i'm suprised he went to Newcastle.

Been banging in the goals in germany for a few years now.

The problem is that we have a massive squad and therefore a big wagebill.

We urgently need more quality but we also need to offload some dead wood. wenger seems happy with the squad though - i have no idea why?

We wont sign anyone this window.

  8. Probably because he is quietly aware he cannot shift some of the crap that he's bought Mr Bear.

Aren't we all tired of the rubbish he comes out with about depth in the squad, that he won't buy if he cannot find players whose quality is above that of ours. If he ever says anything about spirit again ... Quite frankly I now do not look forward to his post match interviews. There was a time I couldn't wait to listen to them but now they're nothing beyond meaningless excuses and blame-shifting.

He would'nt have a problem selling Chamakh, Arshavin, Djourou, Fabianski,Bendter, Squillaci etc.. they would all still look like decent players in other leagues. They're just not of the standrad we require.

In some ways though we have to say Wenger is right in his transfer policy.
the way he has concentrated on buying/producing youth would have worked if ARSENAL STOPPED OPERATING AS A SELLING CLUB.

(also-we dont know for sure wether it was Wenger or the board who let these players leave)

the focus on developing youth allowed Fabregas, Wilshere, Song etc.. to come through.

If he had'nt of sold Nabregas, Nasri, Adebayor, Diarra and Toure we would have a ridiculously strong squad about now.

So in my opinion the problem has'nt been our lack of spending its been the way we sell our top stars.

Newcastle had the balls to get rid of the trouble makers. Full marks for that!

    This.

Must admit though, still envy a certain Mr. Persie <laugh>

As for the suprised bits, me too! But having said that, looking at Cabaye, Ben Arfa et al it does seem to be the way things are going now. About time tbh!!! <laugh>

Cheers for the nice words guys, have a good season <ok>

This is very true, you're forgetting Adebayor as well. Then there was Nasri who left due to lack of ambition from the club, do you guys worry the same could happen with RVP?

Might sound stupid but was telling my friend last week that if you still had Fabregas , Gallas and Nasri I think you would be top of the league at the moment.

Very fair from you lads <ok>

Its a little unsettling watching Arsenal this season, its like watching a great boxer at the end of his career - we've all seen you produce in the past and there's moments when you look like you could do it again, but compare your football and your results to that of the invincibles and its a shadow and that's a shame because the one thing you as fans could allways say to counter Utd or Chelsea was that whatever you did, win draw or lose, you did in style!

5 goals isn't far off in my oppinion. You need a quality CM pair and a decent CB - the rest is there!

    How very niaive.
The longer you believe everything that's written in the Daily Star the more problems you are due in life.
Nasri was the original greedy **** who would have left for the highest bidder regardless of ambition - why do you think he's not a Man Utd player right now when they shadowed him for most of last season and very probably made him an offer ?
