Worship or respect? We are light years away from the russian and korean worshiping of their forces with their huge parades. Do we have fly byes as an opportunity for people to show their apreciation for the work these people do. Whatever our opinions of why we are in afganistan iraq or wherever the next battle lies my point is that the men and women that have decided they wish to help protect their country and their countries interests deserve more respect than what has been shown by a minority. We owe our independance and our security to these people and as a country we are (in the whole) rightly proud of the jobs they do. Should we take opportunity such as sporting events to say thankyou? Damn right we should. We havent turned them into pop stars for hero worship we havent turned them into 3rd rate celebs we are saying thankyou to the service they provide and the uniform they wear with pride.
RIFE 1. In widespread existence, practice, or use; increasingly prevalent. 2. Abundant or numerous. Two soldiers accused = Rife?
No **** but the Old IRA killed and hounded people out because they were Protestant. You gettin it yet? As for Jimmy Torbett and the Celtic sex abuse scandal http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/news/mattmeets/article2302640.ece That problem was pervert general manager Jim Torbett. His crimes became public in 1996 when Brazil revealed he had been molested at the age of 13 at Torbett's home in Sighthill, Glasgow. Torbett was subsequently jailed for two and a half years in 1998. Since then a section of Rangers fans have been blasted for singing 'Big Jock Knew' at games. The chant alleges former Scotland and Celtic boss Jock Stein, right, tried to cover up Torbett's sordid crimes. Me: "So did Big Jock know?" Alan says emphatically: "No chance. Big Jock wouldn't stand for any nonsense would he? "But I tell you who did know — The Kelly family who ran Celtic at the time. "They stood by him. One of the Kellys was even with Torbett in court. That p****d me off big style."
To be honest if you join the army now you can't really say its not your fault where your sent!!! Its obvious you will be going to fight an illegal war somewhere. & yet the trouble in Syria has been going for 12 months with **** all assistancefrom the west..........suppose if the Syrians have seen how many 'car bombs' have gone off in Iraq they might not want Western soldiers getting involved
I'm afraid that's arrant nonsense Brum, I never fought in any Illegal wars nor did I expect to, if Iraq was "illegal" then it was deemed so by the UN who are as much use as chocolate fireguard, so their views are moot.
you must be getting old Dev Look at your post on page four Look where it says several laptop seized Your own quote Thank **** you only peeled spuds
It doesn't say regiment....but it was shown to members of the regiment Can't I use that word "regiment" unless they are all standing in the room at the same time? Phew, they wont be a disgrace to the regiment then....allegedly
Similar to the brits' treatment of catholics then? denying them the right to vote and taking their land, killing innocent men women and children? no mention of that though? its comical your lot call the IRA murdering scum yet support the british army.
But you haven't just signed up. I'm talking about the guys who are signing up today & tomorrow denying any liability of their actions as the government sent them there...........you join today you will be in Iraq or Afghanistan = you know the score. Its different to times before when media didn't really go against government policy to go to war so you only heard one side of a war. Now everybody has the ability to learn about places like Iraq, Afghanistan before deciding about joining up.
Remember Rose Gentle "you killed my boy in an illegal war" Eh Rose....he was 17 when YOU signed permission for him to go directly to war
"Shown to members of the regiment" is completely different from "showing it to the regiment", a regiment could be 800 men, members of the regiment could mean two other guys, the same guys who reported them.
Afghanistan was not an Illegal war Brum, and because Khofi Annan said the war in Iraq was illegal does not makes it so. Annan was quick to crticise on Iraq but he never said a word about Mugabe and his sort in Africa, in essence he's a hypocrite and as I said the UN's opinion on Iraq is not worth a jot. If Iraq was in fact "illegal" who has been brought up in front of the international courts? No one, because it was a massive legal minfield (sic) and no one could prove it was illegal.
