Frankly, I would have been surprised if we hadn't been linked, in the papers, after Hooper himself pretty much ended all speculation. It's welcome though. I like Rhodes. I don't think he's a flash in the pan, and I think he'd do the business rather well.

All good ... except the sources. Never believe the Mail and the Sun is beyond contempt

We would have to pay more than 4 million for him. I'd rather we got hooper but can't see either happening.

Could well be a smoke screen to try and nudge Celtic into accepting our offer for Hooper, if true we are bidding £6.5m for him. I personally would rather have rhodes I think

Not going to get Rhodes even more unlikely than Hooper. Rhodes is the player everyone wants at the moment and when that happens he usually ends up in the prem not the champ.

I wonder how that worked...I mean they also said Commons before it came out and that turned out to be true in that there was an enquiry made. Yet they seem to get a lot wrong. Guessing the Falque stuff probably came out of Sours? Otherwise any publicity coul have alerted others as to his availability

I would just be stunned if at least a mid table prem team didnt come in for him, he's a goal scorer hes proven that and no matter how big the club is they always will be on the look out for a goal scorer like him, the fact hes in league one just makes him cheaper I would be thrilled if it came of but just cant see it.

They didn't call the Lee deal, a Japanese paper called Nikkan Sports revealed we had made a bid for Lee! ;)

Anything more than £4 million for a player who is not proven above league one level is to much. He looks like a decent finisher, with good movement but I don't see anything exceptional about him that makes me think he could replicate his performances at Premiership level.

I think everyone is getting a little carried away with his five goal performance the other night. Don't get me wrong to score five goals in one game is a brilliant achievement but if you look at the goals, there was nothing outstanding about any of them. The oppostion defending was awful, he made some nice runs but nothing about any of the ways he finished particularly impressed me.

Would be a decent signing but he is a work in progress, we need someone who will be able to perform now and in the (hopefully) Premier league. I don't think he's our man IMO.

I think both Rhodes or Hooper would be great signings. But I really can't see us breaking our record transfer fee for either of them right now. Rhoes for 4m would be great - but I'm sure Huddersfield know they can get more for him.

Rhodes would be a quality signing - I would have preferred Hooper but that looks very unlikely. Rhodes isn't proven at Championship level but Lambert wasn't either and look what happened there.

Forget the Championship we are building a team to compete in the Premier League. Now I'm not saying Rhodes is'nt a good player or that he can't make it in the Premiership, I just feel to spend more than £4 million would be a massive gamble. We are not yet an established Prem team who can afford to take big money risks on players IMO.

Lambert at £1 million wasn't a huge gamble, he was prolific in the league we played in and stuck out like a sore thumb compared to the other strikers in the division.
