http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...s-Uniteds-Ross-McCormack-wanted-by-Wigan.html Looks like he's unhappy at being out of the team and his agent's whispering 'WIGAN' in his ear. Not good news. I don't blame Grayson for "overlooking" him (i.e. dropping him when he was in a terrible run of form as a goalscorer), but we still need him as one of the few players we have left who can produce magic and actually kick the ball in the net. This isn't a good day for LUFC gossip, is it? I know nothing's materialized yet, but the Sun have obviously spoken to his agent and this isn't a fictitious piece. Not good if there are four or more players (four of our best for that matter) wanting to leave.
If there is any truth to this and he goes on / around deadline day, then we'll have a real problem on our hands
If he goes make it for the full 2.5 million and let us pray for a miracle in that Grayson gets to spend it ALL. How long before Somma is back anyone?? Of course this would probably mean we see Paynter back on the bench To be honest, I have very little faith left in this season, I haven't got much hope for next with Snoddy, Howson, White and Clayton all stalling on contracts or whispers growing...
Don,t worry BATES will get some loanees in we still have room for 3.His house is not up for sale so its not imminent
Whilst I agree with Grayson on dropping him - he wasn´t scoring -, McCormack does seem the type of player who needs to play every game. He´ll get 20 goals a season if you play him every week, for full 90 minutes. He will go through barren spells, but I think he does need that assurance and sustained run in the team to be a player worth having. And atm, we don´t have many players who are match winners. I hope the team switch back to a 4-4-2 (with Howson out and no adequate replacement for Gradel´s goals on the left) giving McCormack every game to find his scoring boots. Snodgrass and McCormack are the only two players that I´d say can provide a moment of magic to win a game. We should definitely keep hold of Ross unless an offer of 1.5million+ comes in for him.
Its not us that owns the club if you had paid 350k for someone and Wigan offered £2m what would you do ?
Let him go, why not. In fact sell them all or give them away or whatever. I don't really give a **** anymore. Life's too short to get engrossed with batess messing around. I am sure of one thing, I will never travel to Elland road again from Ireland until Leeds are a club again rather than a drop in centre for for wannabe footballers trying to put themselves in the shop window and run by a octogenarian ****er and his elves
I can't say I totally blame McCormack for wanting to go... I mean McCormack needs to play, I understand he is prone to barren spells but he can't break them sitting on the bench. It must have been a real kick in the teeth keeping the bench warm given some of Becchio's recent poor 'one up front' performances, and then to have been benched for Nunez up front... and then to get on the pitch AFTER Forsell in the recent game at home.... only to score the winner !!! Good man management from Grayson.... I mean, what is he thinking....
If we get a decent offer in for him, I'd say take it. It wouldn't be ideal to lose our top goalscorer in january but he isn't irreplaceable and we would have made a nice little profit on him. Then we can bring beckford home!!!
Of course he's irreplaceable as was all the good ones like Beckford and Max. Who do we replace him with, Paynter or another Forsell, maybe a loanee. Give me a break, every time we sell some of the crown jewels, there's always someone suggesting we may be better off whereas in fact every time we sell, we are weakened
I really can't see McCormack agreeing to go to Wigan. As a club, they've punched above their weight for way too long. This season might just be their last in the PL. Add to that the delights of playing in front of one man & his dog, even when the big boys come to town, & I can't see it somehow. If a side in the middle of the PL with clear ambitions to push on for a Europa League place were to come in for him, it might just be easier for him to accept. Not sure also that even Papa Smurf would be content to take 2.5m for our current leading goalscorer at a time when a top 6 finish is achievable.
