How much does the current teams actually cost if you add them up?

    Newcastle's:

    Krul - £100k

    Simpson - £500k
    Taylor - Zilch
    Coloccini - £9.3m
    Santon - £5m

    Ben Arfa - £5m
    Tiote - £3.5m
    Cabaye - £4.3m
    Jonas - £4m

    Ba - Zilch
    Best - £1m

    That's £32.7m, don't know how much Liverpool's is like...

EDIT: Cisse for Best - we've just signed him :D

    So about £40.7m team :)

Haven't read any of this so forgive me if someone's said it.

All you need to do is look at the table <ok>.

    Merged together:

    -------------Krul--------------
    Simpson--Agger--Skrtle--Enrique
    Ben Arf--Tiote--Gerrard--Jonas
    ---------Suarez--Ba-----------

Enrique and Gerard would slot in for Taylor and Cabaye. Apart from that there are o dipper players I wold take to be honest. Bellars could run the golf club though....

    -------------Reina--------------
    Kelly--Agger--Skrtle--Enrique
    Ben Arf--Lucas--Gerrard--Jonas
    ---------Suarez--Ba-----------

I'd love Gerrard and Suarez like. Few others I rate, but don't think we would need them.

I'm sure the Liverpool fans would say the same thing about us.

Did not put Lucas in because he is out for the rest of the season, likewise with Steven Taylor. But agree that there is not a lot in it.

Although so far this season we have been able to play without much pressure or expectation but I think that will change now because of the position we are in both in the league and our team.

No doubt the pundits will still say we have been lucky, team not that good, we will drop down the league, relegated next season. Bla, bla, bla

You lot have played some good stuff this season, I don't see any disasters happening even with Ba out.

Yeah but like Newcastle we've also got rid of some of our best players. Torres, Meiriles, Aqualani, Alonso, Mascherano, Arbeloa.. All players who change a top 6 team to a title contending team. Our net spend is also very good, if you look at the overhaul we've had as a club, we're in a transition like yourselfs, but the only thing that matters is the table at the end of the season, myself I'm looking forward to big almighty scrap for fourth! With hopefully Newcastle in the mix too, you certainly have a good enough first eleven to do it with, let's just hope you don't get some injuries to vital players.

    <ok>

Don't think there's much in it to be honest, think Liverpool have the better squad. Players like Gerrard, Reina etc. Obviously there's gonna be some bias (Us preferring Tiote, you preferring Lucas, but obviously that's expected)

Think Liverpool will finish above us. Expecting 7th, as long as Pardew doesn't pull any shockers out the bag regarding formations/starting XI like he sometimes does..

If anything selling our players has done us both good. You got rid of Torres and got Suarez and Carroll. (Arguably, Carroll hasn't turned out quite as expected, but at the time he was on much better form than Torres!)

Similarly, for us, selling Carroll in hindsight turned out to be a brilliant thing. We also got rid of Nolan and Barton, who we're better off for selling as well. Sold Nolan, got Cabaye. Sold Carroll, got Ba and Cisse.

Not being funny but Alonso left in 2009 and was replaced by Aqualani. Also I'm sure I remember seeing a league table of net spend over the last 5 years up to 31st January 2011, Liverpool were in the top 6 for highest net spend and we were the team with the highest net profit on transfers. Since then Liverpool have had a high spending club.

Plenty of evenings off when you've made something of yourself and have a good job earning enough to keep me in the lifestyle I'd like to become accustomed to.

Newcastle have done fantastic seeing as they only came back up last year<ok> Also on the spending front, I think it's to be expected that Liverpool would spend more than Newcastle, considering the difference in owners at the moment. What I was trying to say that is for all the players we bought in, a lot of players were sold on. If we didn't make silly signings like Downing or Carroll our net spend would be amazing (I don't include Henderson in there because the boy is going to be class). Like Marijuana Manatee said, the transfers made have been good for both clubs in terms of going forward and both have a lot to play for this season <ok>
I also understand Newcastle have had an overhaul too and I respect where they are right now, and that's above us

The main difference between us and Liverpool is they have more experience up in this part of the league than us with a manager who has won everything he could dream as a player and a manager. That could play into their hands towards the end of the season!

I think that Steve Clarke could potentially more be important than Kenny Dalglish, I see where you're coming from though <ok>
