Absolutely brilliant news! I'm just gonna go ahead ignore all the pessimists.

Number 9 too, nice. This teams taking shape.

Obviously Cisse is supposed to be the poacher at the end of every attack. Can't wait to see them click into gear.

How long will it be before one of the Sky Sports muppets (or Big Al, ashamedly) goes on record saying that 'we don't know much about him, he's a bit of an unknown quantity'? 37 goals in 65 games for Freiburg, and 7 in 12 for Senegal!

Can't say I agree with giving him the number 9 straight away though, could be a burden if he doesn't get off to the best start. Then again, it could inspire him to work harder!

It's only certain fans that MAKE that damn shirt a burden. When it's raised like that I begin to quite dislike the whole #9 obsession :/

Hi, QPR fan in piece.

Just wanted to come on and congratulate you all on a fantastic signing <ok>

As a keen follower of Die Bundesliga I can vouch for his quality and would put my neck out and say that he's better than the last two strikers to swap Germany for England, Edin Dzeko and Demba Ba. And that is no disrespect to Ba, just saying. Watch Papiss go, he'll set the PL alight. My guess would be about 10 goals before the end of the season.

You will have the best front line in the league. And would have to go back to the 90's with Shearer/Ferdinand to find a better one.

Ok so it's early days but I se much happiness for you in years to come.

Good luck!

Cheers mate, I hope your feckin right! :)

If we keep this team and get 1 or 2 more in we are going to be one hell of a force in the up and coming seasons.

Potentially the best strike force in the league... how far off is our midfield from potentially being the best?

exciting times.. hope we don't sell to balance the books because a few seasons of progress like the past couple and who knows what position we will be in :D

I think the Cisse transfer came from the Carroll money, so we hopefully dont have to sell anymore players.

Says the fan of the club on the verge of signing a highly rated young Brazilian! <cheers>

It's great signing promising youngsters but it's these kind of signings that would keep us up.

Remember that Ba was only rated as Hoffenheims third best striker out of him, Ibisevic and Chinedu "Edu" Obasi when he was there. Ba might have proved many wrong since but it just goes to show what potential you got in Cisse. Shouldn't be to hard to adapt either. As Die Bundesliga are the most similar league to the PL, physical and pacy.

Helps to have a good manager with a knowledge of the foreign leagues.

Definitely too optimistic, we're not Citeh, spending money willy-nilly!

I think it's more exciting and we're more passionate and enthusiastic when we sign these types of players and see them doing well.

If we signed players for £40m all of the time, the players would be here for the money and we would be under loads of pressure.

Definetly wouldn't swap being a Newcastle fan for any other team.

Exciting times ahead :) :) :)

Hi,

Firstly, I'd like to congratulate you on signing Cissé, he is an immense talent and I'm sure him and Ba will be unstoppable.

But on a more serious note, you have made my fantasy team selection very hard. How to choose three between Krul, R Taylor, Cabaye, Ba and now Cissé. Thanks a lot for that

I seriously think this boy might be enough to push you into the top 6, you're starting 11 is now surely better than a Suarezless Liverpool, and with him, it's very very close.

Good luck with your season, and I sincerely hope you can get in that top 6 and who knows, maybe you'll do a Tottenham in a couple of years time.

Was going to make a thread about this but don't think it's really thread-worthy... Anyone think this could be the repercussions of the Virgin Money deal being done and dusted before January....? Maybe Llambias was genuinely telling the truth when talking about sponsorship money funding transfers.
