February will go some way to deciding who's still there, and who's fallen behind. Yes, we have a difficult month coming, but we will know by the end of it if we have what it takes to go all the way. My main worry is that our squad is not as deep as our main rivals, particularly in the striking dept. so, we'll need a bit of luck with injuries, too.

  2. Oi! I've never once said that we would win the EPL, not once! Sure, I have been fairly verbose about our chances, but I believe that I have every right to be, given the superb football we have been playing, and the fantastic balance to our squad.

I've done nothing more than what any other sane, intelligent Spurs fan has done, which is to state that we have as good a chance of winning it this year than any other side, and I still believe that.

  3. That's a pretty harsh comment (against me), given your admission that you don't even know what Drogs is talking about.

PNP contrary to what Dona_Mara and HIAG are accusing me of all I am saying is that the table does not start to take shape until around February/Early March. For Spurs to be proven title contenders we have to see them in action against the teams around them in the table. That is a fact. Until we have seen them up against the top 6/7 we will not know how they compare to the other sides.

Spurs are in a good position that is undeniable but it is too early to say they are contenders no matter what the media say. From top to bottom the table is too tight.

In January nothing is set in stone. Wigan are 20th but could conceivably finish midtable. If Wigan, Bolton and QPR can realistically climb places then why it is impossible for others to do the same?

As a fan of a club that has won the title in recent years and contended titles I am speaking from experience

It's all baseless, though. Scolari and AVB both had the pedigree and your players had the experience of winning league titles yet Scolari fell flat on his face and AVB is similarly struggling. It's all hollow words that look convincing on paper but offer little more than a hint at what might happen in the future.

Oh and apart from you Chelsea fans there's not a lot of negativity about our title chances.

It was rather tongue in cheek HIAG :)

But to be fair, you did say something earlier in this thread that implied you were basically the favourites.

The Liverpool argument? No, I'm not talking 20 years ago PNP. I'm talking every single season over the past 10-15 years, we have always come out of our shell in the 2nd half of the season.

  8. No, sorry, but that isn't at all fair! Only an idiot would set his stall out by saying that any particular side were favourites to win anything, especially the EPL. Think of me what you what, but I am confident that you cannot truly believe me to be an idiot. And, for the record, let me state that I believe, if ever there was to be a favourite to win the EPL title, United would trounce us every time. That's not to say that I don't think we have a good chance of winning it this year. But those two points of view are not mutually exclusive, although I rather get the feeling that some posters on this site seem unable to comprehend that fact of logic.

It's not even about you, HIAG.
Not sure where you got that idea from.
It's about the large number of Spurs obsessed Chelsea WUMs that are blocked from our board.

We've played every side in the division.
    Everyone has.

Struggling? No, adjusting definitely. We knew that our double winning season was the swan-song for what was basically Mourinho's team, that's why AVB was bought in to rebuild it . We are weaker than two years ago for sure and I for one stated at the beginning of the year that we would do well to qualify for the UCL because of the transition. So here we are in January after holding you again at yours with a depleted squad.

I can also see United who are in the same boat as us and as for City they are not the finished article yet but remain head & shoulders above all with depth and power. When their African players return they will win this league by a country mile. As for your chance, the way I see it its a small one. Its City's to lose and you now have to play Arsenal, City, Liverpool & United away. Unlikely as it may seem if you don't do well in any of those games Arsenal could come up on your blind side. As District says the next 4-5 games will tell all.

Agree; I would not write Arsenal off. They can at very least give Spurs a scare for fourth spot; assuming we get third

You've spent £160mill in the last two years, how on Earth have you managed to weaken your squad? Anyway, you missed the point, try again.

It's a new team of new players, the squad bar Lampard, Cole, Drogba and Terry is almost unregnisable from 4, 5 or even 3 years ago <ok>

You can't reason with HIAG. This is a guy that believes Spurs have a chance of winning the title :emoticon-0136-giggl
