Maranello, 6 March – This coming week is a very important one and for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro it even had a prologue today. The straight at Vairano was actually the scene of an aerodynamic test with the newly-rechristened Ferrari 150° Italia entrusted to Davide Rigon.

The driver who hails from Thiene, was due to have a run last Monday in Fiorano at the wheel of an F60 and was therefore able to make his debut today at the wheel of a Ferrari Formula 1 car: it was a crucial experience for him, given that the majority of his work on developing the car takes place in the simulator and it was also recognition for the way his career is going.

Tomorrow, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa will already be at the Catalunya Circuit, near Barcelona, where they will be involved in a day of filming for promotional purposes. Then, on Wednesday, the final test session gets underway in preparation for the World Championship.

On track for the first two days will be Felipe, while his team-mate will slip into the cockpit of the 150° Italia number 5 on Friday 11 and Saturday 12.

I think this "filming day" is genius. After video footage last year proved that Ferrari were actually testing their EBD on a promotional day, FOTA agreed not to use new parts on the filming days - but this doesn't apply pre season, so tomorrow, Ferrari can run the car in any configuration they want. I'm sure other teams are doing the same.

Not sure why Rigon is being used for aerodynamic testing. Given that he is making his debut in an F1 car, I don't think he is the right person for simulator work. Surely Ferrari should have used Gene, Fisichella or Bianchi.

Probably why Team Lotus used Fairuz Fauzy for their straight line testing

Got to give Ferrari credit, they really do know how to make best use of the rules to maximise testing :)
