Why would we sign a striker to replace a defensive midfielder? Plus hasn't Tiote got about 6 years on his contract?
A player might leave, they might not, depends who comes in for them. No point worrying about it, we've just got to get on with it and in my opinion the club, for the last few months or more, have been doing all they can to ensure none of our better players would want to leave - good contracts, great signings, money poured into facilities etc.

The squad is in an excellent position and if Mike really does have a 5 year plan that sees Newcastle in Europe then that plan has to start coming together soon as we are 3 years into it.

We've built up the youth squad with talented players to bring through when ready and the first squad is only a few players away where we have strength in depth to challenge and begin that progress towards Eurpoean nights.

Smith, Ranger, Xisco, Lovenkrands and Kadar will be off the wage bill soon freeing up enough money to buy better quality players.

 

Absolutely no pleasing some people. We go out and spend a load of money on a top striker and now that can only mean we're selling someone else. Buying a striker does not mean we are selling a midfielder/defender/goalkeeper, that is absurd. Ba is very happy here and Cisse's arrival will only help that.

 

If somebody bids £35m for Tiote then we would sell because its a ridiculous bid. Wouldn't just sell for the crack

I heard we're selling Colo, Tiote, Cabaye and Ba for a combined £7.5m and thats where the money for this transfer has come from. Mrtiote told me.

Regardless of if you sell Tiote, the fact is this is a better window for you than last January was.

A CB and a striker will stand you in good stead for a top 6 challenge this season. Fair play.

 

I think we'll sign a couple more yet. I'm going for the opposite of what Pardew says publically after his "no striker" comments.

So that'll be a new LB (Cissokho) & probably a CB (Tomkins) maybe a RW (Carr Special)

 

Ashely has only sold players if they have rejected a contract or a huge bid has come in for them. He has never sold players to raise funds or get a quick profit. Do not see why that should change.

Baring in mind we were going to spend at least this much on Ruiz or Maiga, I'm certain that this transfer will not lead directly to sellers. Some may be sold, but not as a result of this.

 

Don't think this signing changes anything in the outgoing regard. If we get offered silly money for players we'll take it. Most clubs do.
