http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2579884,00.html 1-month loan deal for the striker - good for experience but this is now his 4th loan deal in a year and with him being out of contract in the summer, i don't think his future is with us but I'm sure he can forge a good career in League 1/2
I got shot down by nearly everone on this site, including you for saying he wasn't good enough to make it with us. Seem's I was right.... Not a surprise.
He has hardly had a chance because he isn't capable enought. A couple of cup games was enough to see that. Chamberlain was originally pretty poor, however you could see he had something there. It just hasn't been possible to see that with Doble. I do however see it with JWP.
Joey does have a point yes he might be quick to disregard a players ability or potential but he's only straight talking and I prefer that to someone that goes round the houses chatting bullshit.
No, he's just gash. Just because we've developed Walcott, Chamberlain and Bale amongst others recently does not indicate all of our youth players are going to make it with us, many of them won't make it at all.
I'm not saying they are? I'm going to give youth players a chance unlike you - he isn't "gash" otherwise he would never have got a contract with us or played v coventry - if it wasn't for injuries he would have had a few more chances now go and count your pennies you negative arse
Loads of youth players get given a pro contract when they turn 17 and make the odd appearance. Doesn't mean they are going to make it. I give youth players a chance but you can tell early on if they've got it or not, Doble quite clearly didn't. Injuries have nothing to do with it, he's just not good enough.
You're forgetting the late developers, or the ones that have to dip into the lower divisions to find their level and then improve, or not, as the case may be. Although there doesn't seem to be more than a few days when there's another ex-Saint Academy lad making some sort of headline, today we have two. Both Lukas Jutkiewicz and Leon Best are in the news. One has done his drop down the league and is now fighting his way back up with Middlesbrough, and the other now seems to be doing little wrong at Newcastle. Personally, I knew little of Jutkiewicz [I recognised the name as being associated with Saints and that was all], as he left Saints at an early age [14, I think] and I had extremely low expectations of Best, having watched him play for the Academy, the Reserves and the Saints first team. I'm not a natural cynic, but I wouldn't have expected to see these guys lighting any fires, ever. Perphaps it's the lesson we take from these two [and other ex-Academy players] that we cast them off at our peril. Besides, I understand that Ryan Doble is well thought of at SFC.
Good luck to him, but honestly I don't see him ever making it with us. I'm certain that his future lies elsewhere, most likely down in the lower leagues.
Does anyone know when his contract ends? Because no one will pay money for him so we could be stuck with him for a while In all seriousness though I hope the lad can forge a good career for himself in football, showed a lot of promise at one stage.
You try and give youngsters a chance, but sometimes you have to say they have no future with us. Some of these 'rejects' will go on to make a career elsewhere, but you can't hold on to all of them.
you can't tell early on - have you ever heard of late developers and injury hampering development? i suggest you actually give them a chance, as untill they play you don't know what they can do - training can only show you so much, now go take some happy pills you negative twat
Late developers still have something about them. Chris Baird is a prime example. I wouldn't be surprised if Doble finds a career in the conference.
