We allegedly lost Nasri in part because of a lack of ambition, other players have stated they want to see a commitment to the squad before they sign a contract renewal. I understand RVP may be waiting to see who we buy and where we finish before committing his future to the club.

What commitment/investment have the club showed in the past 2 years that might convince the likes of RVP to stay at Arsenal ? I can't think of a single player.

  2. That is the big worry and if they were as nonchalant as Mr Gazidis was when interviewed about the need to hold on to key players then one really wonders what the intent of our management is. Seems to be short term money. In the longer term the likes of Wenger, Gazidis and I wouldn't be surprised Silent Stan, would be gone. Gazidis would have pocketed his bonuses, Stan his profits and " Arsenn " his 6.5m a year salary. Then it would be someone else's problem. We the fans will still be here of course, asking for our voices to be heard.

That's the issue with this window. Now was the time to show the ambition, finish in the top4, sign RvP & Theo up, and keep heading onwards and upwards. Instead, the team are going to "make do," could seriously miss out on the top4, RvP will leave, and the club begins to spiral down. Mark my words, this transfer window is where it begins.

  4. I'm amazed this club cannot see that. It could be that they are not telling which is nothing new but past performance has shown they cannot see the domino effect of not getting the business done and how it will affect us. One can live in hope I suppose.

I don't think it's fair to blame Wenger, he's just trying to do the best he can with what hes got we know he's a very protective person of the players, board and club

for all we know he could be saying "look we need to give RVP 150 grand a week, we need to sign gotze, hazard etc for about 30 mil each" etc etc and the board said no

  6. You could be right Mr Wright but whatever and whoever is behind our inability to progress, it certainly is not helping the club. I think it is all of them because Arsene has shown that he is not able to inspire the team anymore. I know once the players are on the pitch there is so much a manager can do but ever since last March, Arsene seems to me to be like a passenger in a runaway train.

Didnt we bid for players like M'Villa, Hazard and Goetze in the summer? If so Wenger has given the boards his target that he would like and its the board that are putting these silly bids in not Wenger.

You do realise that when Dein was hear all Wenger had to do is say who he would like and within DAYS dein would have the target at the club.

No Dein = Massive delays in signing players due to penny pitching and this then alerts other clubs and we then loose out.

If wenger was allowed to sign the players he wanted during the summer we would not be in this posistion. He is doing the best with what he has available.

If you were RVP ... would you sign ?

I mean .. what positive reasons can you see for RVP to sign ? Does anyone know if he claims to be an Arsenal fan ? That and a fondness of Wenger are the only reasons I can see .. but is that enough for him to sign ?

  9. If I were RvP I would want certain assurances. I don't mean just promises so I would want to see who we sign. If all we get are another bunch of youngsters pocketing 40 or 50K per week then I would be unlikely to stay. If however Arsene signs any of the sure fire names like Goetze, Hazard and the like, then I would know that this team means to win. Anything else just won't do. It's not as though we cannot afford these players.

The outcome is very simple as it is clear. No RvP, no big signing, no CL and those factors can be rotated anyway and as many times as one cares to do so. In the end it all boils down to sporting ambition and on that front, the men in suits at N5 have shown woefully little to impress.

Sadly I am pretty sure he'll hold out for the inevitable Bosman deal - several big guns would be interested, silverware very likely, and a big contract to see him out. Difficult to complain really.

I have seen no reason to think he won't sign.

He has demonstrated his loyalty to the club up till now, he is club captain and obviously enjoying his football at the moment. All things that I have heard or read from him, suggest that he is loyal and will sign when the season is over. Unless he lies (possible I know), then it is clear that he loves the club and the fans.

I think, much like Bergkamp did, he will stay until he retires.

RVP said that he doesn't want to renegotiate his contract whilst the season is still on going. He said that he will sort it out in the summer. <ok>

I agree Wenger can and should do alot more concerning the team we have (defensive training, tactics motivation etc)

but generally that comes with a good team, if we have RVP/Wilshere/Vermalean/Szneznky that's a strong, determined spine, and them players don't need any motivation! either more players like them, or them fit regularly and we'd be fairing better

You didnt mention Hill-Wood. He is the one who drives the financial side of the usiness and wont allow Wenger to break the wage structure. How on earth can he sign the top players when he will pay them less than they will get just about anywhere else and with Gazidis seemingly being awful at negotiating or we would have got more players.

Hill-Wood out, Gazidis out, Dein in.

I think Gazidis actually does a pretty good job as CEO. His main role is to develop and promote the club as a modern business brand model and I don't think he can be criticised for that.

Hill Wood was the one who ousted Dein over Kronke (he then embraced him). The relationship between Wenger, Dein and the players was a great formula and I think the club and Wenger miss him badly.

Dein is itching to come back to the club, (he described himself as being on the subs bench) but I don't think it will happen whilst Will Wood is still there.

Are Hill-Wood's first names Will Wood?? Is that why he seems to have a chip on his shoulder? Cruel parents to name their kid Will Wood Hill-Wood.

Hill-Wood does need to go for sure - Philistine !

If we didn't pay 2 of our youngsters the stupidly high wages we pay them, there is your extra wages for a top player.
