http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...er-handing-in-Blackburn-transfer-request.html £12m????? Madness. Also sounds like Henrique could struggle with the work permit?
No direct quotes from Samba,so paper speculation. 12 million seems very high and I cant help but think that hes been the main central defender in a team that have been in the bottom three for most of the season??. If he does come to us,I hope he has a better time with us!
Henrique is a striker. If Samba only wants to join us, his value drops dramatically. There will be no bidding war.
My opinion is that he does want to join us. Hughes appointment has assured that and we are the only ones with real interest. I think it will happen although the sooner the better.
There's not only a possible competition from other, bigger clubs, but Blackburn (or Keen at least) don't want to let him go. So to get him we are liable to pay over the odds. If we buy him I doubt it will be until late on 31 January. Hope I'm surprised!
£15m quoted in the Times, think we have bid £7m. They can't let him go without a struggle to save what face they can with the fans. When he does go, to whoever, expect it to be for an 'undisclosed fee' to save embarrassment. See Defoe has a £20m price tag - Levy cracks me up, always wants to buy cheap then sell on massively expensive, as if having played for Spurs in itself makes you a better player.....
So their options are to keep him and have him not play and disrupt the squad or sell him to us and either pocket the money or buy a replacement. blackburn are not in the driving seat since things turned sour.
Yes, this is the real worry. Our back 4 did all right against Newcastle and while we defnitely need more back up in that area it is up-front where we are clearly struggling. But as ever strikers are the most prized commodity in professonal football and even the biggest budget does not give you a huge shopping list. Whatever happened to the Drogba rumour?
But Defoe would be great for us I think - I'd love to see him in blue / white hoops and red /white quarters! (they can bid them puke coloured ones)! Liverpool paid £ 35 million for Carrol, and have now showed interest in Defoe, so I suippose that in itself is going to push his estimated value up. Doubt he'll be sold for more than £ 10 mill max.
£12mil does seem high for Samba, I'd even say the £7mil we have been reported as offering is high too. Reckon he would be no more than £5mil tops if we weren't in the smash and grab window. Rather than wait for a work permit for Henrique couldn't he claim to be an asylum seeker first? That way he could play against Wigan on Saturday
With Bassong apparently off to Paris (he's tweeter that) Spurs can now put their considerable resources behind securing Samba's signature. He may not be for us after all; too dear anyway.
We're no longer favourites to get gim, going from 1/3 to 6/5. He's 6/5 to join Spurs as well, after being 4/1...
If we get Alex do we also need Samba? Bridge and a promising youngster that can play across the backline would be good IMO. Is it me or has Kenny started looking like he ate all the pies? Watching him running back to goal in the Newcastle game had me in stiches!! Does he need replacing?
Samba is more likely to sign if we do get Alex IMO.Would you sign for a club with the possibility of partnering one size or Connelly ffs
I did hear from a pretty reliable source that rangers offered samba 80k on friday, i got told on saturday and it was a good source, money talks
