Do you think that Henry could become the Gooners' jinx?

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Hoddle is a god, Jan 16, 2012.

  1. Wouldn't it be some story if the Gooners never win a game in the EPL when Henry plays!

It would be such an inglorious and ignoble end to a player who is universally hailed as a Gooner legend. Some might even suggest that he should have his legendary status revoked.

Honestly, I believe that Carroll would be more effective for Arsenal, than Henry.

Still, desperate times seem to provoke desperate measures, and Whinger does look like a very desperate man, at the moment.

He's already blown one of his records.
Until the Swansea game, he'd scored against every Premier League team that he'd faced.

His signing was a no-brainer, but they expect too much from him, I think.

  3. I think signing Henry for two months is a big a mistake as it would be for us to sign Beckham for the same period. It's got to be more disruptive than constructive, I would have thought.

We don't need Beckham, but they do need cover for the absence of Chamakh and Gervinho.
Probably good for them financially and for fan morale too, though that's been hammered by their form.

  5. I can't see any player being of any use in so short a spell. Sorry.

And you're fully entitled to disagree with me, HIAG.

This isn't how it works on some other boards, is it?

Well, certainly not on the Gooner board.

Bet they've sold a couple of hundred thousand shirts worldwide so they've probably made £4 -£5 M. We could do the same with Beckham. Neither of them actually need to play apart from the odd cameo 10 minutes from the end. Football is very much a business (unfortunately).

I reckon he was just something of a 'distraction' signing. It's clear to all Arsenal need some new, top quality replacements for Nasri and Fab, but Henry's signing has created a sense of euphoria that could well last until the end of the transfer window - hence covering their need for new top players.

    Good News for us! <ok>

Maybe he can spend some time with Bale and Rafa on free kicks?

He doesn't necessarily need to be that fit though Lidls, as long as he only makes appearances from the bench.
A couple more and he should pick up a bit of sharpness, though I hope that you're right, of course.

Yes, but Chamakh can't at the moment, can he?
    That's why Henry's there, plus he's a shirt seller.

Landon Donovan at Everton was very useful.

As for a jinx at Arsenal, there's only one: Wenger and his oversized coat with a tog rating of 12. Or it might just be the person wearing it, given he can't even find his pocket...

  16. True, but, to be fair, Everton are so poor at the moment, that the introduction of any half-decent player is going to make an impact for them. It still hasn't helped them crack top 4. And I predict that Henry will have exactly the same impact for Arsenal...

Pretty long, he's too knackered to run back to his own penalty box. Maybe a backpass from the halfway line, but unlikely (unless they put Almunia back in goal?).
