Poor distribution, but I think he's had a fair few assists, notably 2 against Villa last season.

I think Mike is doing a brilliant job at the moment. He's no Saylor but he's still playing well. His distribution isn't the best but as the saying goes, 'if in doubt, get it out'. Think he is just in doubt a tad too much.

He keeps things simple, which I like. We have a great balance between the two centre backs.

I am actually going to **** myself with glee if/when Williamson scores. He's had so many chances go inches wide or hit the post! The poor lad deserves a goal.

Hes so quiet and laid back I could imagine him sitting down on the pitch and lighting up a tab after he scores.

You do know that he'll now bag 2 in a 10 min session when he does finally score!!

He really is Andy O'Brien V2.0!! Nothing wrong with that mind you, solid, dependable, threat in the air and forms a good partnership with a player that can play the ball.

Williamson gets my vote. After injury he has come in and done a billiant job taking over from an unlucky Saylor.

Playing beside Collo helps but the lad has just fitted in so good. Back line looks solid again with Simpson and Santon doing a good job.

Willo has done great since returning and i always felt he did quite well last season too. Have to remember last season was his first at prem level and i think he is just going to get better and better. Agree on his distribution but think this will improve and safety first doesnt hurt anyway. As Stuart Pearce used to say, "you cant score from row z".
I do think Saylor is first choice but great to have Willo there as cover and competition especially bearing in mind Saylors disastrous luck with injuries.
Collo is magnificent but struggles without a big man to partner him so willos return was well timed for us.

Agree with all the comments we have looked a lot more solid since his return. But Taylor edges it for me for 2 reasons firstly he does chip in with a few goals a season and more importantly is comfortable on the ball. Williamson on 3 or 4 occasions on sunday just lumped the ball up the field and out of play thats fine for getting rid of the danger but doesnt really fit with our passing game. Makes you wonder if this is why Pardew has started playing 2 big men up top

He's no Saylor but he is a very reliable solid option when Saylor is missing. Won't make as many goal saving blocks, not quite the athlete Saylor is, but he is a good defender. The way he has come back in is testament to his level head, and Pardews patient approach to injuries. He could have forced him a week earlier, with Perch there I'd certainly have been tempted! But Pards looked a bit further ahead sensibly and Mike has repaid him handsomely. He's a perfect fit for our squad because Saylor is injury prone and therefore we are able to entertain both within the squad. Having someone of Williamson's quality to step in is great for a 2nd tier PL club. Only the top top clubs can house 3 or 4 top defenders and I think outside of that, we have the best unit of centre backs in terms of quality. Obviously if we could add a younger ball player as they are trying to, we'll improve again.

But for me Santon and Williamson deserve high praise indeed.

I'm happy that Willo is playing well and we look solid at the back but I'm a tad miffed that my dedication and devotion to baking us a result for the first 12/13 matches of the season hasn't been acknowledged.

Whilst I've no doubt your baking is the real reason for our excellent season OT, the fact you've made such a song and dance about it precludes you from being an unsung hero. I, on the other hand have quietly gone about by undying support for the team by not singing this season during lessons when I know we've scored.

Williamson is a great squad player, and at his best, he's a solid CB.

You can't argue really. 3 clean sheets in 4 PL games since he came back.

We really missed a strong aerial presence at the back.

For me , we missed out on 4 points with Williamson out, just against WBA and Norwich. Might have been joint 4th today!

As someone who has been critical of Willo in the past (not his effort just saying that he's not of the required standard) I have to say he's impressed me and I knew/hoped this article was about him before I clicked on it. Also agree with the comments that say his arieal ability makes him the perfect foil for Coloccini, who's swiftly become my fav player at the club.
