Bruce Rioch's team/squad was better!

  1. True. Seems we have a lot to sort out at this club. We need to though or we won't get anywhere. A slide down the table would be just too much to bear. I hate to have to reach for those razor blades!!! <wah>

I've got the Samaritans number somewhere - I USED to give it out to Spuds fans.

Robin ... yes, I think Wenger is culpable !!

When we needed Arshavin the board sanctioned the purchase, we are in a far worse state now. clearly something must be wrong with our model if we cannot afford to pay players what they are worth (excluding over-inflated costs caused by City/Chelsea) but yet our wage bill is astronomically high with very few high quality players in our squad.

I am genuinely not on a wind up but i dont get why so many gooners are so stressed. Go through EVERY clubs history and youll find periods of longer than 6 1/2 yrs without a trophy. The premier league is simply more competitive. With all due respect between 1997 and 2004 it was only united or arsenal that could win the league and then it became united or chelsea. The top 4neverteam changed from 2003 to 2010 except when everton made it.
Now the top 4 has become a top 6 or 7 ... that has got to be a good thing. So called lesser clubs are turning over top teams...united, arsenal, liverpool, city, chelsea and spurs all dropped points which again is a good thing....the late1990's til 2 or 3 yrs ago were boringly predictable....wenger is keeping you in the race for fourth and keeping your club financially sound...some of the complaints sound like those from plastic glory hunter fans to be honest.

  7. Yes we've heard all of that before Mr Remember but do remember that we have an enormously wealthy shareholder who has been sidelined and who could easily keep us afloat and ahead of the opposition.

As for the comment on petroleum derivatives, I think it is best not to bring this up. We're just about managing to hold on to a new found peace on this board ;)

    Absolute tosh bloke <ok>

Do you not think that the teams who had been successful didn't complain when they stopped being successful ? Do you not think that fans of teams like Nottingham Forest didn't complain when they went downhill ? After a while of not winning anything you come to expect that you won't win anything, we are NOT at that stage yet and we will fight to ensure that never happens. We are the 3rd most successful club in English football by a very long way.

We want a competitive league but making mistakes week in week out and not addressing obvious problems is something I cannot accept. Before there was money in football the desperation to do well didn't exist, the entire scenario has been exaggerated by the money that has entered football, sitting and watching others overtake you is not something I find amusing.

  9. I believe the men in suits at N5 have forgotten the club is about sport. They've gone the route of building a huge stadium and forgotten how to fill it. In the meantime they are too busy concentrating on property investments. But hey isn't that another way of boosting the balance sheet??!!!

The club should be about sport and the financial model should support the sporting one. Instead they are at best of equal importance in the eyes of those suited men. At worst, it's the financial model that comes first. However without the sporting element, how do they think they will fulfil the other?
