Should be veeeery interesting, im at work so if any1 could provide us with the main talking points twud b much appreciated! Wonder if he'll use the phrase "im just taking some time out of the game, relaxing, playing a bit of golf, spending time with the family" like all newly sacked managers do!
regardless of what he says I always had a lot of time for Bruce, he always tried his best for us, tactically limited and a bit too cautious for me with his substitutions and throwing players in but for a net transfer spend of 5 million the difference in squad he inherited and left us is incredible so I'm grateful to Steve, the time was right to go though, although I'm dissapointed that a lot of our fans just never wanted him because he's a geordie and wouldn't have taken to him if he'd won the league
I agree with a lot of that Pat. He was a decent bloke, and to a point did a decent job. I stuck with him for longer than a lot, less than others, I think his legacy will be better than his tenure (McLean, NEW Catts, Seb...). Intrigued by his thoughts, and wish him all the best either way, he's a decent enough manager for a club with limited expectations.
As I expected, he was very humble with his comments..Basically said that he thought he had the basis of a decent side there and wishes that he had been given more time..He then went on to wish the new manager and the club the best of luck, and he was going to enjoy his first break from football in 35 years before assessing his own future.
I'll give him credit for that, Pat. Bruce signed well and significantly improved our squad. But that's all I'll give him credit for - he didn't know what to do with players when he did sign them. Larsson on the left, Muntari in a position he'd already failed at while the left wing spot where he'd succeeded lay vacant, Gardner and Vaughan hardly used - christ, it was glaring. I don't care what Bruce says about us. It's nowt to what I'd say about him! (By the way, the Geordie thing never bothered me. Stokoe, Tueart, Guthrie and Young were Geordies too).
