We can't agree a decent wage with Clayton for his new contract. What the **** is this club. Why do I even ****ing support it. Howson, White and Clayton all set to leave if we continue being petty-pocketed dickwads with agents and players. IT'S NOT THE 1950s. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11715/7438420/Leeds-risk-losing-Clayton Someone cheer me up.
Do they really think we can replace player after player whilst challenging for promotion & paying peanuts? We are a joke of a club & that really hurts to say. Bates **** OFF NOW!
If I was Snod I would be taking a long hard look around that dressing room before I considered my future. He seems to love the club but he must have ambition like all other players with abilty to test himself at the top level, and we arent heading there under our current set up. dont blame ANY of them for not resigning, its going to be a common thing going forward unless theres changes at the top.
He's got 18 months left guys. At the most, they're probably only offering him a years extension. At least we haven't waited until there's almost 6 months left to get talks started for once.
We'd be offering him an extension until 2015 or 2016 if we were a properly-run football club. And offering him competitive wages too. And actually talking to him about why he should stay at Leeds and why it's the best option. Obviously we've failed to do one of those things otherwise talks wouldn't have 'stalled'. Howson and White in the same boat? I'm sure these players talk to each other. If we can't convince these three who actually like the fans, what hope do we have of attracting any sort of success in the future? They're not thick and they know that we won't get promoted under this regime. We could offer any player a contract whether it be now, six months' time or eighteen months' time, I can't think of many of our best ones who'd sign it with these clowns in the negotiating room.
Contract negotiations stall all the time. I'm not defending Bates, but you rather we overpaid our players significantly like in the Risdale era? We've hardly had the best luck with players we have signed down on long term deals, whether it be to injuries, or dramatic loss of form.
It doesn't look promising but on the bright side, we do have a while to sort it out and we are at least trying to change the way things work by starting contract talks so much earlier than normal (im pretty sure we started only a year before previously) Still, not looking promising but hopefully he'll realise that leeds united are the ones who really gave him his chance and hopefully leeds will realise that he is our future captain
Do they stall all the time? I'm sure that if we were doing things properly, there'd be continued discussions rather than an actual breakdown. To reach a stalemate where the player/agent are saying 'we want 15k as the absolute minimum' and our club have just gone 'nah, we'll resume talks later, we're never paying that': it's just amateur negotiating. This club has so much to offer, but Harvey has no idea how to sell it because he's an idiot. I want the sensible balance between tightarse Bates and profligate Ridsdale. FFS there's no way Clayton will have been asking for wages we can't realistically afford. He's only had a few decent games at this level. But we can't afford to chuck him away and we certainly can't afford to keep blanking the demands of players and agents without trying to negotiate and get the price right. Are Howson, White and Clayton going to stay? I really doubt it. When we reach a situation like this, is it good for the player's morale? It forces them into the shop window - and yeah, that might improve their performances, but it's hardly the situation we want. If Hull or Southampton had these players on their books, they'd have sorted them straight away with proper contract offers.
But our current captain hasn't put pen to paper so why would Clayton do the same in the future? Loners was saying in an interview Clayton was 'class with a bright future & he knows it'. If the club arent going to match the ambition of key players then they will move on.
Clayton must be on around 8k max, he will walk on a free in 18 months and if his form continues he will go to the premiership and he will get 15 - 20k per week, bet we offered him 10
Bucks its not even that they have better players, they have confidence in their owners, Chairman and realise they are going places! Do our players have confidence in our owner? when they see our better players leaving does that encourage them? BATES OUT or BATES DIE Either wat will do fine
I agree, what I am saying is a stable club will not let a player leave unless the money is outrageous & the players head has been turned or they have someone else of better ilk in the pipeline Not us though, sell make excuses & replace on the cheap, then the occasional bargain we get that comes good goes straight in the shop window when we wont pay them what they deserve (in terms of footballing talent, not the real world of course!)
I was rejected by leeds at 15 (Goalkeeper) so you reckon I could be Player/Chairman? Bucks get scouting some players. would anyone seriously be up for it though?
