Wishfull Thinking. No great surprise considering the cat was well and truly out of the bag yesterday. Shortened from 20/1 into 14/1 or even 12/1 in places yesterday afternoon/evening. I haven't read it yet but will post his thinking on the Champion Chase thread when I read it.
Morning, people. Hope everyone well. Disappointed that Fakenham has been lost as Mr Henderson had a nice one out there (hope he diverts him to Newbury tomorrow now, where I will be) but I'll still nominate one at Folkestone: Weather Babe (4.00 Folkstone) - what a lovely name for a filly by the way. Has gone very close to winning 2 above average bumpers, in recent months, and this easier contest looks the perfect opportunity for Weather Babe to enter the old winner's enclosure. Both her runners-up berth at Towcester and then Newbury was decent form and she really should have too much for today's opponents. Very surprised that she isn’t favourite today. Wishful Thinking blue across the board on ‘Oddschecker’ and as low as 10’s with Stan James. The old boys power really is extraordinary. He also said some positive words about Hold Fast and I see that Mr Nicholls has changed his mind and now plans this ones next race to be in the Game Spirit at Newbury rather than that rich Donny handicap. Good luck to all today.
Allanard at ayr should go in and maybe a double for james with the other Todhunter According to script Oddy, suprised at you mate thought you would have liked boxing, its in a decline now compared to its glory years of Ali, Forman, Frazier and the greats before them and also the brilliant middleweight divison of the early 90s but there are still some good boxers out there
There's no incentive for India to do that mate - they hate tests and are growing tired of ODIs, all the players want to do is play IPL and get their million buck cheques, all the hierarchy want to do is negotiate massive deals and live off the back handers. The majority of the cricket world are bending over backwards to accommodate Pakistan because it's politically correct for the media for show sympathy for this great nation who have been penalised because of radical terrorists coming from their country, what they forget is that opposing cricket teams (Lankans) were targeted, shot at, and injured whilst travelling to the test venue in Lahore (I also know Farby who was Lanka coach at the time and an attack was expected and his squad went through unbelievable security whilst there). Only now Pakistan players have been convicted of spot fixing (been going on forever but only recent convictions have brought awareness to the general public) that sympathy is waning. You may have heard about the Essex player who admitted spot fixing at his trial the other day ? I'm sure in time the fact he was put up to it by another Pakistani international will become common knowledge, it's very possible his guilty plea was in return for financial return to protect the player and wider groups identity.... Anyway, anyone got any winners today ? I'll be playing distances over at Folkestone, when ground tacky down there they make up for some reason.....
Did a coupla 6-month contracts there late '70s and early '80s. Wasn't too bad then, but then some years later 4 internal auditors (quite young, same company) from Houston HO were murdered by gunmen on their way from the hotel to work. Very dangerous place nowadays, for sure.
Dan: Don't follow it too much anymore but middle divisions not bad. Heavyweight division is absolutely laughable, wouldn't you agree?
Thought I'd take the advice od Grizz and have a look at Folkestone. Th3 15:00 chase over 25f looks like it might be a test of wills. Qualypso D'allier had a nice win last time out and will probably be well supported, but I thought the top one Quazy de Joie will take some beating. I'm not too keen on the 11.12, but with a strong third last time over 4 miles, it will not be run into the ground. Quazy de Joie.
Reasonable card at Newbury tomorrow but am somewhat saddened and disappointed to see that the 7 races have a combined total value of less than 30k...cor blimey, you can get that for finishing tailed off last at Meydan! The words 'Broken' and 'Britain' spring to mind. Still the presence of the name 'Mr Henderson' on the racecard adds priceless value to the meet. Early fancies, meanwhile, would be Cedre Bleu, Shernando and Houseparty. And the concluding ‘Hunters chase’ contains a huge number of old faves! Meanwhile, talking of old faves just seen that, Main Aim, will shortly take up stallion duties in South Africa. Was one of those animals who had the misfortune of his best distance being 7 furlongs but he did truly excelled at this trip. His biggest ‘handicap’ was that 6 furlongs was always too short and 8 furlongs too far for him and therefore the really big, big races always eluded him. Hope the old boy does very well though in his new profession.
How many inspections does it take to see if a course is fit to race? Folkestone are going for the record today, think they are joint holders with Kempton at the moment with three.
here we go you are being disrespectful Mech, he is a heavyweight so why should he be in the middleweight division. He will give you 2 stones and a beating.
Good morning gents and again we find another racing day with slim pickings... Elsewhere it looks like a bit of a wake up call for the cricketers, although when a team turns to spin after just 5 overs you know its going to be a hard days graft. Something i think was lost on our batsmen today...!!! I see now that football has now turnd into basketball with players trying to keep the ball in thier own half by any means necessary... How did that Wigan player not get sent off for nearly catching the ball last night is beyond me... Also the brits are keeping up tradition of not doing very well playing tennis in the heat of Aus... 5 Brits perished at the first round of the Aus tennis Open...!!! Come on cyc, do what them nice people of Qatar are going to do in the future World Cup... Put the Air Conditioning on for these poor milk tanned pommies...!!! And as for the Greatest tag, its a well done and conrats to Ali though in reaching his 70th birthday. Though i think the man may not know exactly what time of day it is... As for the racing today, not many i fancy... Folk... 3.00 Causing Chaos, 3/1 3.30 Pete The Feat, 6/1 Ayr... 2.40 Gleann Na Ndochais, 5/2 - Jeez i hope its easier to say than type...!!! Good luck to all who play today...
haha nass(i would add a little laughing face but dont know how to) any news from the 11am inspection at folky plz anyone??
Is that 'Clerk of the Course' (or 'groundsman' to give him his old fashioned title) building up his part or what?!? Apparently he now needs to 'consult with trainers and jockeys'. Cor blimey, man, your job is not to consult with them but tell them!
