BBC reports Mancini: So he tries to encourage the referee to dismiss Martin Skrtel when City beat Liverpool 3-0 in early January, but then a few days later goes mad because Wayne Rooney waves a hand in the air questioning if Kompany should be red carded in the FA Cup tie. Then in the next encounter with Liverpool with his mind acting like a goldfish's brain, Mancini gets furious cause Liverpoolâs Glen Johnson escapes punishment for a two-footed challenge on Lescott. Gerrard the Liverpool skipper later accuses Mancini of doing exactly what he had accused Rooney of doing a few days earlier. Not the sharpest tool in the box. But then he goes in the 88th minute of the match against Wigan to wave another imaginary card at the referee to try and get Maynor Figueroa sent off!! But folks its okay cause the ref can't see him on the bench!!! please log in to view this image
"I did [the waving of an imaginary card] because Rooney did this, but this was normal when there is one chance like today," he said. ---------------- Rooney didn't wave a card, did he? It's not the first time Mancini's made the gesture, he lacks class. It's a booking now for players to do it so managers probably should too.
Sadly Rooney the prat did. I'm dead against that behaviour whether by Utd players or anyone for that matter. Mancini is really stupid for trying to criticise Rooney and yet is a master at it himself. Fair play to Gerrard for challenging him about it after the cup game.
We can get down to technicalities here did Wayne use 2 fingers to simulate a 2 footed challenge or wave for a card, but lets be honest, in the context of what had just happened, Rooney was trying to influence the ref into sending Kompany off. I'm not happy to post that but I'm dead against players, any players doing this. But Mancini is thick for trying to say its okay for him from the sidelines to do so.
Still not sure if Rooney was asking for a sending off or just appealing for a free kick - the ref did take a long time looking at it, and both Carrick and Welbeck also ran over to the ref before he'd even blown his whistle. Either way, not nice to see players running to the referee, but then they seem to do it just about every game. If I'd have been the interviewer, I'd have been so tempted to ask Mancini: "So, you think it was ok to wave an imaginary card cos Rooney did it? If Rooney cheated on his wife with a prostitute, would you do the same?"
To be fair Rooney only stuck two fingers up claiming it was two footed challenge. Most players in that situation would have done the same. Mancini blaming Rooney for this latest one is school playground behaviour '' Rooney did it first''. Pathetic really.
man you keep lying to yourself He wanted a card, hence the two fingers, even wayne didn't think it would be red I would say, noone did. mancini was a twat, he needs to calm down, calm down
Mancini or Rooney, both twats Eric, Rooney ensured a card, Mancini was trying to do the same thing, but hey, mancs finding Mancini's actions worse, no surprise there, Constcrepe apart, he's being quite balanced today
Whats worse pointing out that a tackle was two footed or waving imaginery cards ? In my opinion it the waving of the cards - something I've said I don't like United players doing ( I think Rafael did it last and Rio gave him a bollocking for it ). Mancini did it against Liverpool and now against Wigan. He may have had a point with both, definetly the Wigan one, but it's not good to see.
He probably did, but then I wonder how many players who saw the same challenge wouldn't complain to the ref about the two footed challenge. Ironically enough if Rooney had just said it was a two footed challenge to the ref, without the two finger gesture, no one would ever have known. This. To be honest I can accept it if it's just a one off, cos everyone overreacts a bit at times. But after apologising when he did it against Liverpool he's now done it another two times, as well as a few times in the past, and suddenly has decided he was right to do it all along I wonder if he's starting to crack under the pressure and we'll see a Keegan/Benitez-esque rant by the end of the season
BTW it is so obvious the OP couldn't wait to get this out after City won last night If city had lost this thread would be replaced by more of Christiansmith (who uses their real name on a forum?) City are falling apart threads
Well of course the only way to please BBF would have been to have posted it before the match. Or maybe you should wait until City lost just so he can find a different excuse to feed his Utd obsession?
I suppose that, indirectly, it is. A two-footed challengs as we've seen recently, generally results in a straight red, rightly or wrongly.
True, but then you could argue the same about anyone who appeals for a penalty or foul against the last man. The last man gets a red if he makes a foul, so are all the people who appeal in that instance just as guilty?
Mancini, successfull professional player, good career, good mannagerial career also, a good pro and comes out with less kack than Fergie, the title of the thread is way off childish and well, doesn't set the environemnt for a balanced discussion. Mancini needs to cop on, or a title aimed at the general problem, as in. "Influencing refs" followed by a discussion on the subject rather than bile and bollox, Not606 has enough of that by far, enough to se some really good posters gone for good.
