Ignore what you might think about the Keys/Gray fiasco a while back, this clears up the Coventry situation a fair bit. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16582453.stm Not getting bought by Sisu, talk about dodging a bullet.
Mate, even at the time, when we were on the brink, we knew in our hearts it wasn't right. Hedge funds will suck you dry......if you live long enough. Feel sorry for them.
The only thing that saved us from sisu was that Rupes and his mates didn't like what they were offering for their shares. Sisu weren't rejected on the grounds of being an unsuitable owner, more a case of not stumping up enough wonga. Luckily, his greed turned out to benefit us in the long term and poor old Rupes lost all his money when we went broke.
All of these financial vehicles are sinister and dishonest ways of making money out of nothing but pure speculation and look what a mess they have made around the world. Still as long as the rich make a profit no one seems to mind.
Keys says that next years season ticket money has been spent. Remember Cortese saying you can't run a business based on future earnings such as TV rights etc. I hope we don't come up for sale anytime soon as there seem to be few (if any) decent prospective owners out there.
Having seen the Keys video: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16582453.stm I must admit, I shuddered, when I thought back to how close Saints came to being taken over by SISU Capital. The fact that Coventry City have no ground based income is shocking.
Just been shots of Darlington ground in darkness...could have been us. However, one important difference is the fan base. They have a 20,000 seater stadium but have only had 26,000 fans through the gates in total this season. Interestingly, a supporters group have £50,000 but would rather form another club than try and shore up the present club. Can't blame them.
Coventry City fans on both occasions we have been to visit this year were lamenting this problem, and telling us how lucky we had been to escape the clutches of this bunch. Good fans at Coventry. They have rarely had much to cheer, and are now looking down the barrel
Did he pay 2mil for them?, all i know is he kept on recieving his massive salary when others so as leon crouch were doing it for free.
