Shame it's a loan with no prospect of purchase, but the signing fulfills a function. A talented player who can help us get promoted for free (apart from wages) leaving money available for another player. Also gets a player in at a time when it looks difficult to sign the quality players that we want.

Actually, Antonio was a good Lge One Pardew loanee. He'd gone before Nigel turned up.

I for one see this as a great signing. If he lives up to his potential, he'll definately help us with the final push towards the prem. COYR!!! have a little faith in NA & NC there not mugs. From everything i have found out about him so far, I can see nothing but praise about his talent and skill. :emoticon-0137-clapp :)

It's one area of football I've always been concerned with - I'm a fan of long term success so short term players (be this loans or signing of old players, though Connolly has proven himself worth it) seem trivial. Though I'm very excited to see what he does for us while he's here. Hopefully he does enough to put us in a position to be able to replace him when he leaves us!

Fans would be "over the moon" if we signed Chambo until the end of the season and that would never be a permanent transfer, so what is the difference? Spurs fans seem to rate him and he looks like the ideal back-up if Adam Lallana gets injured.

I'm just not that certain that an English player would take to our system any faster than a Spaniard or Dutchman or Swazi...stylistic problems are just as evident with English players moving between teams (think CMS looking rather out of sorts at Brighton) as with foreigners being brought in.

This news was broken on Saintsweb days ago, that's when I asked. They also mentioned another Youngster, Daniel Aquino who's development has somewhat stalled, good things were expected of both players.

Sounds like a good move but what have you been watching the past 20 years? Redknapp has a reputation for buying 10 players at silly wages and sometimes one of them comes good, hence his squads are massive, his player turnover is massive and his previous 4 clubs all went bankrupt (or as close to as can be) shortly after he left!!!! (Bournemouth, West Ham, Pompey, Saints)

    This kid looks good though.

Yes he is on loan which some see as a disappointment as we can't buy him if we want. HOWEVER if he helped us get promoted and we made it to the prem what would stop us signing him on
Loan again for the full season?? I mean, do you really see him getting into the spurs 1st team in the next 1/2 years?? Yes he is good but the way spurs are playing atm I can't see him ebb getting a look in. Great loan and if we make it to the big time I think it's well in the question that we would sign him on loan again.

Hope he doesn't turn into another N'Guessan!

Agree with Dan though, not a fan of loans and also prefer British players.

Communication is vital that's why I was also slightly ify about the Lee deal...

Good positive post Joey B - Have to agree with you.

How the hell did this deal happen - who contacted who? Spuds buy him and straight away he is with us for 20+ games. The board at spuds must recognise how we can develop and bring on youngsters.

Who will make way for him in midfield - ahhhhh so many questions im going to explode (confusedsplatemoticon)

Adam Lallana said on twitter he can't wait to train and play with Falque. When your best player says that it speaks volumes..

I was hoping we'd be able to give him a run out from the start in the Cup in 12 days time. Unfortunately I've just looked up Spurs' 3rd round game, and he came on for the last 14 minutes!

This lad will give us another option. Some teams have found out how to play us. There is not much chance of knowing what this guy can produce so I'm excited.

I think he will do well. He'll want to prove to Spurs that he can stand out in a lower league.

I think we're one player short of a championship winning squad - but defender or striker?

As far as I can remember he was very highly rated at Barca but they got rid of him as he had a poor attitude. Clearly got ability but I'd be surprised if he started regularly here, but we can offer him more first team football than Spurs could.

I promise you now, he will be one of our best three players from here onwards.

With Harding proving to be more-than-adequate cover at RB, I don't think that we need acquire someone to play there, but a competent cheap CB would be nice...doesn't need to be someone who'd come in to supplant any of the top three options, just a little added depth in case a rash of injuries/suspensions were to crop up.

Could go either way on a striker, I guess; between Lambert, Guly, Connolly and Lee we should be well-covered, but if someone very good were available, add them to the bus.
