True but we'd have more choice of getting a quality player in that position if we were in the Premier League.

I don't care that he isn't going to join us in the summer. He needs some playing time to impress Redknapp, so if that helps us get promoted, then im all for it <ok>

Hopefully they won't have the option to recall him.

I understand why Dan, but if he is as positive as suggested, then if helps us up, we can be thinking of a whole different scenario in the summer. If it suits, then I'm all for it.

I think Spurs have loaned many of their youth team players out, as they're not in the UEFA anymore; Millwall and Leeds have both acquire some spurs loan talent too.

He could be fantastic in the Championship...fast, excellent on the ball, and should be pretty motivated to show what he can do.

As for the "I wish he were English" crowd, how do you support this club? Almost half of our starting XI is foreign-born, and vital players all; time to accept that talent is talent, no matter where it comes from.

Hope he doesn't turn into another N'Guessan!

Agree with Dan though, not a fan of loans and also prefer British players.

Communication is vital that's why I was also slightly ify about the Lee deal...

We have had a number of loanees under Sir Nigel who haven't stayed for too long, who have proved their worth Antonio for example. I trust Sir Nigel to improve the squad and not overpay. You can see the prices going banannas already for the likes of Sharp, Maynard Hooper etc. Loans are a good way of getting class players at resonable cost, allowing us to buy in the summer when, hopefully we are in the premiership. So what if it isn't permanant, as long as it achieves the desired result.

Typical Saints fans, writing a player off before he has even played a game for us. Harry Redknapp is not known for buying too many duffs and our own scouts rarely fail in identifying good players. I'd rather not comment on the rather dubious and shameful comments about "foreigners" coming here.

I think they're saying (perhaps inarticulately) they want somebody who can fit in quickly as they're only going to be with us a short time - the thinking is persumbly that they know the language, and the game in England. Many people think De Ridder is still adapting; but perhaps he's not that great, even though his English is.

Astute signing. Could well be this years 'Guthrie' as when he came in and was instrumental in our drive towards the play offs, Iago will be instrumental in us heading the league. I have heard very good things about him from Spanish contacts, a tricky, pacey player with good vision and passing ability. I feel he will take to our fluid system like a duck to water. No doubt people will be disgruntled about this as it's a loan and blocking our youngsters. However our youngsters are 4 years younger than him and not at Championship level. This guy could prove to be the best bit of business we've done this year, deflecting attention away from lallana, providing another outlet and supplying Lambert & co with quality delivery into the box.

Sorry havent seen anyone write him off? some people have said about the foreigner thing and I agree with you about that and others have said (myself included) that its a shame there is little chance of us being able to sign him long term but I dont remember anyone saying he's going to be rubbish, maybe i missed it.

So within a few minutes of him signing you've contacted your 'spanish contacts' lucky enough to have seen him play on a regular basis, despite the only regular professional football he's played in Spain has been for Villerael B?! Okay

Unusually negative of you -Dan. Let's say Spurs do take back after he has improved with us. But it gives us more time to acquire the right player for us, without taking a gamble on the transfer fee. It is also a limit on the gamble of signing players to equip Saints for the Premier League, and not achieving it. There's always a chance of that happening.

Personally, I think this is an astute piece of business by Cortese and the team. I was wondering how they were going to improve the side to make the race for the Premiership a little easier. I'd not thought of this way of doing it.
