I think Andrade is a no brainier got to give the lad a run out, we have no youth in our team at the moment that bring a bit of spark and want to take players on with out two t's being at the African cup of nations.
Hughes needs to see more of his team and reinforce his playing methods with the squad before the Wigan game. These are professionals and should be able to handle it! And Chelsea in the next round will also be a good game for the team.
It's not really a case of being able to 'handle it'. You can have all the guts, determination etc. in the world but two days is a very short time for a sportsman's body to recover and there's a far higher risk of injury playing two games in three days than two in a longer period. As said, I'd expect a fresher, younger 11 to perform better anyway.
On principle, I think we should play every cup game (including the League Cup) to win, and hate this idea of fielding 2nd 11s and 'not caring' if we get knocked out. Plus we should seize every opportunity we get to have a go at Chelsea. But this game could not come at a worse time to be taken seriously - as noted above certain players have to be rested and for once I hope Hughes does mix up the team a bit. Any loss would be demoralising, any win is minimum expectation, a big win could do us a bit of good. Worst possible outcome - go out on pens after knackering extra time, long term injury for Young ( despite his mistake for the goal yesterday, in the absence of Faurlin the only guaranteed starter if I were picking the team). But I expect a narrow win, followed by a viscious and bad tempered, thoroughly enjoyable lucky win against Chelsea.
This match is very important to us mentally. Losing to league one side would be devastating and it could have effect on the rest of the season. It's all the same who you put on the field because we superior material to them anyway. I think this is the match to win and if we do ,then it would have a positive effect on a wigan match.
Failing to beat MK Dons was the last straw for Warnock so MH needs to win this game. No shame going out in the next round against Chelski but imagine the reaction if we turn them over again. A win could open up the posibility of doing the treble over our dirty neighbours, I think I'd need therapy if we managed it. What are the odds on Foy being the ref again?
We can't risk playing important players twice in 3 days, and it will be a bigger hit for morale if a team full of regulars go out to MK Dons! I expect MH will rest those who started Sunday and also expects to feature against Wigan. It would be good to see the likes of Andrade and Hogan given a run.
We need to just not lose the next 3 to 4 matches. Experimentation is OK, I think he needs to see some of his backup squad players. A win against the Dons would be a boost for the whole team right on through management and would help us with morale. Then we need to push on and make sure we just do not lose the next run of 3 to 4 matches. 4 draws would be a fine run, seeing as the squad would be all mixed up and being gelled from the new signings at the end of the month.
If the Sparkster is confident of signing 5 or 6 first teamers during Janners (still a Big If at the mo') then why the hell not put out a side consisting largely of the current eleven? I would surmise that most will remain squad players, as 5-6 newcomers do not constitute a brand new team, so they need as much practice as they can get!
I think Hughes will put out a very different team tomorrow to the side that went out at Newcastle, so first team players are rested for Wigan. I would love to win tomorrow and play Chelsea. But if Hulse, Dave, Orr and Hall fail tomorrow, is it going to affect the first team? And does Hughes really want an FA cup match against Chelsea when he's fighting relegation?
Imo we should rest certain key members of the team, as we dont want another one to get injured. But a win will breed confidence so we should put out a strong side. Even with the likes of Smith, Campbell etc.. playing we should still have enough to win.
I know he hasnt had a great deal of time, but he has barely done anything of note, and in the MK Dons game last week he was awful. So im hoping for better this time!
Hello judo nice to see you here too.......Yes ,i think its do or die for DJ tomorrow and hope he's doin well if he get a chance...
Yeah, scored away at Wolves but then got hit by that virus. Think he needs to be match fit before we judge. He needs plenty of playing time
Ricardo is on the Hull board but doesnt post on here, maybe we all ought to start an ITK rumour of Folan back to Hull?
