'I am not leaving' - Joey Barton pledges future to QPR
Recent speculation suggested the Rangers captain was looking to end his six-month stay at Loftus Road, but the 29-year-old has confirmed he is fully behind new boss Mark Hughes

QPR captain Joey Barton has rubbished speculation surrounding his future at the club by stating he has no plans to exit Loftus Road.

Following recent reports that new boss Mark Hughes was prepared to offload the 29-year-old, the manager came out Sunday to dismiss any claims that he was willing to sell Barton.

After the 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United, Hughes said: "I’ve seen the story about Joey, but there is no suggestion we want to sell him. Joey is quality and I am looking to bring in quality, not lose it."

Now, the former Manchester City midfielder has taken to Twitter to confirm that he is fully behind the club's new coach, and that he has no intention of departing the west London outfit.

Speaking via the social networking site, Barton said: "Mark Hughes and his backroom team are very good. The camp is buzzing and I am not leaving.

"We are all looking forward to the challenge ahead. Not going to be easy, it never is. Thats all relevant footy questions answered......"

Rangers currently lie in 18th place in the Premier League and face an FA Cup third round replay against MK Dons at Loftus Road this Tuesday.

Fine, let's hope Sparky gets a bit more personal discipline into the guy so that he's not engaging in personal vendettas each match, or feigning injury to get a player sent off (the latter goes around and comes around as he found out to his cost against Norwich)

Much, I'm sure, to the disgust of some on here, have to confess I'm a closet Joey fan, so I'm more than happy with related comments made by both Hughes and Barton.

Don't care about Twitter and need to see more in the way of completed passes but otherwise all good imho.

I wouldn't go as far as disgusted but this news certainly does nothing to cheer me up. I've seen worse players but since he joined Barton has shown very little to justify his reportedly huge salary. Couple that with the fact that he will always be vulnerable to the red mist and is regularly singled out for attention by both opposition players and fans alike and the cons outweigh the pros IMO. Given how much needs changing in our squad Hughes needs to watch him play in competitive matches before offering unconditional support. Having said all that, for sure Buszaky did nothing to increase his credentials as a viable alternative yesterday...

Barton has certainly not justified his place in the team for the large part, but I think now Faurlin is out he can play in the middle again (NW kept on pushing him out wide) which will hopefully see him return to form.

We really need him and SWP to step up now, as so far they havent done much to help us.

I think Barton is a Hughes-type player. He covers a lot of ground, is combative and can score the odd goal. Bank on MH to bring the best out of him...

Exactly. Im also hoping he can turn around SWP's form as he has worked with him before. A good start will be to keep him on the right wing.

I think a day will come when most fans will love him. It's taking time for him to
    adjust, but he'll come good.

Well, he needs cash. He donates a large portion of his wage to NF and the BNP

Joey B has played about 13 match for us and he's outstanding in 3 of them good 6 of them and crap in 4 of them. He is really important player for us if he keep his act together. And yes he is goin anywhere...why would he?
