I think calling me that without any reason, or previous humour IS insulting.
Did you imagine I would not answer in the same fashion? I rather think it was justified.

So - let it pass. But I think you need to refrain from that response and try reasoning instead.:emoticon-0150-hands

I'm all for us being able to have our opinions without getting upset with each other. I think the differences on this board just show that despite us not all agreeing (completely normal) that we are all passionate about our club. I welcome that 100% <ok>

yes I think we are all passionate ( excepting a handful of fairly obvious Windups) - we wouldn't waste our time on here comparing views if we didn't care.
Naturally sometimes our opinions lead us into conflict - but using the worst abusive language is not going to keep tempers cool.

In fact abusing the unwelcome types will give them the attention they crave - better to try to ignore them.
Some visitors from other clubs can be good fun -but some do have to spoil the banter.

Always - thank you - me too........ but I do not use the worst words normally - I was really rattled.
Saying I'm talking out of my backside is fair comment - but f'ing and c'ing isn't really on.
    Hope you agree.<peacedove>

Agree <ok> We've got quite a lot of options in MF too, we could even play Kos as a DM (if we weren't decimated with injuries at the back)

Yesterdays result just highlights how we've deteriorated as a team unit. No disrespect to Swansea they played great football and deserved the win. But in all seriousness, how can a bunch of newly promoted players dominate 11 International players?! It just doesn't make any sense. Before if any team dared to bring it to us, we would severely spank them. Now everyone could give us a scare.....

I think we made some poor errors yesterday, we simply went to sleep for the 3rd. Not good enough. If this teams performs, we know we can beat the likes of Chelsea. We need to concentrate and keep the ball more.

I think the problem is not Wenger, but he board.

There are stories in the press every now and then that there is no money available for players and Wenger has regularly turned a profit from transfers but not reinvested it, you have to ask yourself why that is. Until we have a board that are prepared to invest in players we will not be challenging for the title again. Wenger has done an amazing job keeping us in the CL every year with the amount of money he has made as well.

    Totally agree

I don't think Gazidis is a problem. He's a CEO who works for the club - developing and promoting it, he does a pretty good job of that. The real decision maker is Hill Wood.

Back to the original subject of the thread I dont think Riochs's squad was better at all.

I think most fans are forgetting we are still missing our BEST midfielder (Jack Wilshere), our left back and the almighty Bakari Sagna.

Rioch's squad did have Wrighty and Bergkamp but the midfield was pretty damn poor (and i've always thought Merson was overrated, in fact i cant stand the guy.)

Our squad lacks quality in depth but when we've got both fullbacks playing and Jack Wilshere back to matchfitness we will be alot more formidable.

    ------------------Sczezney------------------
    Sagna---Mertesacker--Vermaelen--Santos
    ------------Song---------Arteta-------------
    ------------------Wilshere------------------
    Walcott--------VanPersie---------Gervinho

We make errors all the time, we always make errors, we never learn, the errors never get fixed, its bloody Groundhog day !! Wenger bangs his head against the proverbial brick wall, clueless about how to change things.]

TheBear - Rioch's team had a much better defence and attack to our current team. The midfield was Merson, Parlour, Jensen and possibly McGoldrick, marginally worse than our current team. Our defence was the famous back four and Seaman, up front Wright and Bergkamp !!

  17. You could be right about Hill-Wood but it's Gazidis who is always making pronouncements about the sustainable model in the face of questions about the lack of investment in the club costing us trophies and the departure of players. To that all he says is we will grow success not buy it.

We have tried to grow success - for the last seven years. Clearly it hasn't worked and the point finally accepted in the transfers at the close of the summer window. However it was all too little and too late. Someone like Scott Parker would probably have benefitted us greatly. Instead he went to our rivals. I'm drifting here but the point I was trying to make was that Gazidis's mindset is wholly based on his financial model. Where has that taken us I ask?

It has been discussed on Talksport that it is the negotiating team of Gazidis and Law which has not seemingly been as sharp as that of David Dein's. While Gazidis may have a background in the US that could be of benefit to us, there are aspects of his approach and performance that looks to come up short.

Again on the matter of funding, perhaps there may be some truth in discussions on the net that while Arsene, like all managers may wish to spend to bring in success, the board is holding him back. Perhaps part of his large salary while he is under contract buys his silence about what really goes on at the Emirates. In the absence of evidence we can all speculate. However we do have evidence and it has come from Gazidis himself when he spoke about growing success and not buying it. There is something not right when we are not addressing our needs in an adequate manner. We buy cheaply and everyone is aware about what usually happens when one pays peanuts. Trouble too is that now no one wants a bunch of these players we are saddled with so apart from anything else we leak funds on account of these bad decisions. So much for Mr Gazidis's sustainable model. Not very efficient it seems to me. Now to top that, we bring on a majority shareholder who hasn't put a penny into the club and marginalised one who wishes to <steam>

    Here endeth the rant

Robin ... I refuse to believe that the board continually come out in public to pledge supoprt for the manager for funds if he wants them only for them to deny him the funds if he asks.

  19. By which I assume your line Mr Head is that Arsene is as culpable.....

There is basis for this too because you may recall that when Arsene was under fire following our lacklustre start to the season, it was none other than Gazidis who in defending him said something along the lines of "Arsenn" ( he calls him that ) being that rare manager who wants to understand their sustainable model. He went on to say that "Arsenn" came to them asking about their model and saying that he would keep the team in contention. Hence there is a deal brokered somewhere. It might be tougher than Arsene thought and my slightly speculative reading is that they have bought his silence to the tune of £135k or thereabouts a week. That is a lot of money to be paying a manager whose own model for success isn't working. I don't want him out. I just want him to change. Perhaps that is too much to ask. He has been loyal to the club, agonised for it too no doubt but it just isn't working and I can't see him for whatever reason, providing the solution. Him and the bigwigs at N5.

    ;)

It might be true that Wenger can have money for signing players - but is banned from paying more than xxx in wages.
Hence the difficulty in recruiting. Gaz and Hill-Wood make sure the max wages are low (compared to what others will pay - the sums are still astronomic IMO).

These days that is a MAJOR obstacle.
