I've been going crackers about people who have been pronouncing his name as McClane, and it turns out that they are bloody right!!!
It is only the English people who pronounce it Mc Lean and not Mclane. In Scotland there is a place called Culross but it is pronounced Currus.
Me too. In fact corrected someone just this morning. In a similar vein, our lass says Ollnwick because she says Anick (How I pronounce it) is just stupid. This from a woman down the road from Slawit spelled Slaithwaite. The bloody nerve of the woman!!!!
There's a guy in my year called McLean, McLane, it was really annoying listening to commentators calling him McLeeeeen!
There are a few place names which are pronounced differently to how they are spelt. Whoever decided that Leicester would be pronounce Lester and there is a place in Scotland, Milngavie which is pronounced as Mullguy.
On another point why can't people get our own players names right. We have that lad Campbell his name is Fraizer. It isn't Frazier, Fraser, Frasier or Fraiser. Oh and we do not have a midfielder called Gardener but we do have one called Gardner. Well that got my rant over and done with.
