    Hi chaps

Was just wondering what your starting line up would look like against Bolton this weekend (Saturday 21st January). This game we shouldn't be losing, it's important we take all three points especially as Arsenal are at home to Man Utd.

My starting line up would look something like this:

    ----- Reina -----

    Johnson--- Skrtel--- Agger(If fit)--- Enrique

    Henderson---Adam

    Downing---Gerrard---Maxi

    Bellamy

What are your thoughts on the game and what would your starting line up be?

IMO bellamy must play. Thats a given seeing he didn't play v stoke.

I would not argue at all with the line up you have given and do feel that we simply must get a result i nthis one.

He must, and maxi too I think. If we're winning comfortably then bring Carroll on, who knows he may bang a few in too. Like I said, perfect time to close the gap on Arsenal especially as they're facing Utd. A win is a must!

I think the maxi thing is a debate, the only thing i think everyone must surely see after the stoke debacle is that Kuyt's well and truely past it and should not be in anyones first 11.

for me downing on the right is a problem... downing needs to start performing or get dropped

i'd play maxi but i'd want some guys around him to get the best out of him. I'd like a front three of bellamy, maxi and suarez to play as just that a front three.

Yeah, Kuty served us well but shouldn't be in the line up. Bellamy maxi and suarez together with gerrard just behind would be awesome. Shame we'll have to wait and see what that outcome would be.

Hopefully Downing and Carroll will play and not perform, if they play well it could be a disaster. This will delude Kenny into thinking we don't have a problem up front and he wont buy a decent striker. <ok>

I see no reason why Kuyt couldn't play in a 4-4-2 with Bellamy.

Lone striker and on the wings is just a no no.

But if we are going 4-4-2 i'd rather see Carroll and Bellamy. Surely Maxi has to be given a chance? Downing is making me sick and every time Maxi plays he is a huge threat AND SCORES GOALS - pissing me off that he keeps getting overlooked.

Agree about Maxi, I can't quite understand why Kenny hasn't played him more often. He should be getting a look in more than kuyt atm

I just think he's got no pace or legs to get in any good positions anymore. thats all.

I'd play 4-4-2 v bolton, don't see any need to think we need 5 in the middle verses bad teams like this.

Kuyt, Downing, and Henderson, all need to be dropped. Downing is average at best and I would prefer Maxi. Kuyt can run but there's no point in being good at running if you can't pass a ball five yard's to one of your own team. Henderson is young and will improve but he should not be playing every game, hopefully Spearing will be back soon he is a genuine defensive mid and we need him.

    kuyt.

maxi is slow but he's got the skills to offset that (not totally)

kuyt has no pace, nor technique so while you can still see game intelligence and knowing hwere he wants to be he cannot get there and is easily beaten to the ball.

    Id start with

    reina
    Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, enrique
    Downing, Adam, Hendo, maxi
    gerrard, bellamy.

typical 442, with gerrard, Bellamy and Maxi all interchanging.

if we can get a lead, bring off maxi and bellamy after 60 and replace with Carroll and Sterling....

We always need to have some pace on the pitch and Sterling seems to be our best pacey option with the exception of bellamy.....

If Spearing is fit, he should start in stead of downing with hendo moving from the center out wide.

Would be happy with that too. Would be good if Sterling got a game, would be a start if he was on the bench anyway

I can't disagree with any of that, we should be taking a few risks.

One thing that is kind of worrying me is the carling cup semi is midweek after this yeah? so what will we do with bellamy there?

I'd agree certainly with going at bolton with a 4-4-2.

Would rather Bellamy at the City game so maybe...

    Downing Gerrard Maxi

    Carroll

... and then Sterling on the bench. Bellamy could play 10-20 mins I suppose, would rather keep him for City on wednesday (?)

i can see your point, for sure, but without bellamy on the pitch, there is no pace, which allows their defence to remain organised, which in turn means less space for others (Maxi gerrard etc) which means we wont score which then means sterling wont get on......Even if we only play bellamy for 45, i think he should start...... Whilst Suarez is out, i strongly believe Raheem should get some game time. then once Suarez is back, i think we should look at giving Adam a break some games and bringing in Suso for a bit of midfield flair.....

Suso are Sterling are our reserves standout performers for me and are knocking on the door....We have to give them some time or there is a real worry they may get Pachecoed

I'd take 45mins of bellamy i nthe first half <laugh> i would rather that than a hoepful 20mins at the end when our guys are done for the day (adam, downing etc)

best signing of the summer was bellamy for sure. henderson i like as he never ever stops working.. but bellmay is a now player.

I don't know where maxi is but this is a game for him.

finally sterling, he's really young and needs expereince and the u19 nextgen and what kenny is doing will give him that, he's only just signed pro last month so i am hoping he will be accelerated a bit now. I perosnally don't think suso is that good as he's not putting the work in as much as he should be. he's about 3 times the player pacheco was but he just hasn't settled on a position and isn't head and shoulders above at reserve levle... just my opinion of course. Sterling has improved year on year and has that pace that would make him work but he's also got to just grow into it mentally. If we bring him on over the next few months and he gets in for a few mins than next eyar he could shine from it.

He's as likely to come on now and get sent off trying to tackle etc as not.

I'm beginning to think it makes no difference who we [Kenny] bloody well select! It'll be the same bore draw whatever.
