Both BBC and OS stating that we are bringing in a new striker this weel k and BBC seem to think we have made an increased bid for Hooper. Let's hope it's true!
Brilliant interview with Nigel on OS. Will keep our transfer talk behind the scenes but excited by Lee and wants to bring in another striker this week! COYR!
It's a shame we weren't in a position to sign Hooper when he left Scunny, now his price has risen so much. But he's been prolific in two leagues, and he's only 23 (almost 24) so we've got his peak still to come. I'd be very happy with him signing.
Adkins, whose side lead the Championship, added: "I'd like to think we've got another player joining us this week. "We'll try and do our talking in quiet. Our endeavour is to bring another striker into the football club." Well it sounds as though something is not only in the pipeline, but it has got to the stage where the player has expressed an interest to get on the bus. I would have thought that its all about the price now. Whether that player is Hooper, we can only guess. But due to Lennon's big mouth it sounds like it probably is. Until the new player is on the OS in a saints shirt I won't be too excited....well I'll try not to!
Ever since Barnard got injured again we've needed 2 strikers Lambert, Lee, Connolly, Hooper?? all out and out strikers, with Guly a good versatile player will suffice
if you mean Lee will be the only striker, Adkins has said we want another striker if you meant something else apologies!
Absolutely. He can win the league for us all by himself with maybe just a little help from Guly our leading goal scorer from open play.
The Lee deal was talked separately by Adkins. He mentioned Lee and that he was "really excited" about that deal (Basically saying that it's done). And then started talking about "bringing another striker into the football club" which means that he wants Lee and another striker and seemed quite confident about it, otherwise, why would he mention it?! That's probably the first time he has said a date when he expected a deal to be done. All this Hooper "commiting to Celtic" is still way wide of the mark. An article on the official website doesn't mean the deal's over. "I'm happy at Celtic" doesn't rule the deal out completely! That title doesn't say he isn't staying there. Just basically saying that he doesn't mind it, or not fussed. If the offer that we're "preparing" is substantial, then Celtic might have to sell. In his contract somewhere, there will be a price that would be accepted and I feel that we're moving towards that quickly.
For me it just needs clearing up quickly. Whoever we bring in we need them now and not in two weeks time.
Celtic would have to be stupid to put on their own website that he's happy and not looking to move only to then sell him. The Hooper thing was and never is never going to happen. I would be hugely surprised if Southampton didn't move on to other targets last Friday with the whole Saga a smokescreen!
