Dont get me wrong, for the money i think its a great service, however.......

Are you fed up with AGAIN yesterday they had the wrong effing game on at the start - prob the 4th time this season.
Why cant they start at 2.55 - and let the commentator lead us in with the teams etc.
Why cant i listen to Charlton Live tonight without it wanting to make me sign up (again)
Why cant i watch the highlights of yesterdays game ??

    Its sooooooo frustrating and annoying.

    Someone, please sort it out.

I watched the highlights just now. Lovely stuff.

The best bit for me is someone in their Kop applauding Jackson's goal.

I've tried Player on two occasions now, both on the freebie trial and the quality has been terrible - when it finally loads there's constant streaming problems.

Yes, it may be my system, but listening to some of the comments on here, I'm not so sure.

Also, if they started at 14.55, it would give them 5 mins to get the right effing game on !!!!!!!!!

    Grrrrrrrrr..............

Its a good service Tewkes and works well 90 per cent of the time, but, for example, they had Palace on at 15.01 yesterday !!!!

I've never had any problems with it, obviously apart from the wrong game being on at first.

    Lucky me I guess.

I thought it was all over once the match started, but thankfully they played it again at half time.

I think you said it on another thread; some strange music choices yesterday

I meant strange music in general.

Its great when its going, but just a pain with always the wrong game - i'm sure they must have a Palace/Braindead fan in the control room who just wants to give us a bit of gip.
And also why dont they start at 2.55 instead of 3.00 pm on the dot? By the time theyve sorted out the right game its at least 5 mins into game.
And tonight for example, i was unable to listen to Charlton Live via the link on the OS until 20.40 by which time ive missed virtually all of it.And also the same link for the SW highlights wasnt working either until later - dont people test these things ???????????

Glovepup - can you have a word ???

They both worked fine for me, Stu, I'm not sure it's a problem at Charlton's end

Keep on moaning about stuff and you will soon reach 1000! (Just kidding, Stu, love your posts!)

I only use Player when I am in the Dominican Republic, where communications are famously atrocious, and have met with no problems apart from the repeated, but only minor, irritant of them only switching to the Charlton commentary a minute or two after kick-off. Incidentally, they had the Sheffield commentary on the match going out O.K. ten minutes before the Charlton version, so I listened to that then switched over during a break in play.

Interesting how very different the two commentaries were, even though both were supposedly impartial from professional broadcasters. A sonic equivalent of "glass half full" and "glass half empty".

Another pet moan I have, and it is not peculiar to Player commentaries, is how they fail to switch the mike off (or whatever they need to do) at half-time, only to broadcast too much information about the commentators private lives, travel problems, and once (on the old Mike Mansfield commentaries) their suffering from constipation. Another time there was a prolonged bout of obscene language, not shocking to me but there were probably a lot of children listening. I think that was on the old Capital Radio commentaries. I am surprised how unprofessional the BBC can be sometimes. Lord Reith must be turning in his grave at fulltime broadcasters who are unable to construct or enunciate a single grammatical sentence.

I know its obviously very helpful for those fans living oversea's/ooop north, but I really find CAFC Player such a terrible way of 'rewarding' fans. I pay hundreds for my season ticket, then thousands every year for away games, add on top of that the money for programmes, food and drink, and a new home and/or away shirt every year...but if I want to see an interview with our manager or watch the extended highlights of a game I've already been to (and paid a lot of money for) then I have to pay an extra £20 a month or whatever?

No problem with you guys using it, but I do find it a bit unfair.

    Boohoo I guess.

As most know being down in oz i love the cafc player, otherwise all i'd have is live score websites and after match reports. Have noticed the odd time whe it switches to the correct game late which does seem very unprofessional. It's not like the game is not programmed hehe.
