Firstly I must congratulate Swansea on their great performance to day. A team of no great stars, but a quote their manager said, was, your match tactics are decided by the formation of the selected opposition,"now who could learn from that". What I require from all you crystal ball, soothsayers, is your predicted forecasts, for our next 6 league matches MINE ~ H Fulham 1 Newcastle 1 H Fulham 1 W B A 0 A Man C 3 Fulham 0 H Fulham 1 Stoke 2 A Q P R 2 Fulham 0 A Wolves 2 Fulham 1 Total of points 4 = relegation (I sincerely hope I am wrong.)
Ouch! A bit too much doom and gloom for me Val. I recollect a posting just before the Arsenal game, where people were predicting 10-17 points for 10 games - and I'm sticking to a minimum 15 - that's around 9 for the next six matches. OK, I'm too optimistic, but no way can I accept those 4 defeats back-to-back. C O Y W
I can too only see us winning that game against West Brom but think we will pick up a point against Stoke and possibly Wolves. It all depends on who if anyone we bring in though.
I can see us winning at least three of those, even four. Anything we get away at City is a bonus, but the other five are all winnable. Wolves away is the one I think we're most likely to lose, but I think we'll win at least three of the other four, including the 'second leg' against QPR. Whatever the score at Loftus Road, I'm pretty confident we'll beat them on aggregate! Newcastle are still a good side, but they're not as good without Tiote and Ba, and we are more than capable of beating them, West Brom and Stoke at the Cottage. We're not the finished article yet, but we're capable of outplaying most teams when we get it right. Before Christmas people were making similar predictions for our Christmas and New Year run of games, and they turned out pretty well apart from Man Utd.
Hate to point this out but we've already played Wolves away and lost 2-0 so You may have to rearrange your total points cause we'll be playing them at home.
My feeling is for 12-15 points from those games... The plan is to get to 40 ASAP although that might not be safe either!
I'm a little more optimistic about those games: Fulham 2 Newcastle 1 (Newcastle not playing as well as they were) Fulham 2 W B A 0 Man C 3 Fulham 0 Fulham 1 Stoke 0 Q P R 2 Fulham 1 Wolves 1 Fulham 1 I'm in for 10 points.
I can't see us beating Newcastle or Man City. So out of the remaining fixtures I think 8 points. A win against WBA and Wolves, draws against QPR and Stoke. 13-15 points is wildly optimistic IMO but I would of course take it. Sorry for being so negative, the Blackburn result hit me hard!
Then I'm with DR. 10pts, maybe 12 or 13. 15 is entirely achievable, but I don't see us winning all five of the winnable games. Of course, they're all technically winnable, but I think our attitude towards the Man City match has to be that anything we get is a welcome bonus. The others are all games that we have every chance in.
Don't forget it will be Newcastle at the Cottage and missing two of their most influential players (Ba and Tiote), or even three if Cabaye's injury doesn't clear up this week.
yeah, but they were (a) at home and (b) up against a Mark Hughes side! Seriously though, they won't be a push over, but they are definitely beatable.
Bidders if we played the way we know we could against Blackburn we wouldn't have lost 3-1. The disappointing fact is that we haven't played that way too often this season. Say what you like about Hughes but he makes his teams incredibly hard to beat, even at City they didn't lose many games just drew a lot.
