Just got back after a few vodkas, have to say the atmosphere today was shocking from the 1st min to the last.

Great result joint 5th after 21 games pretty much safe I am happy but the crowd need to pull their socks up!

In fairness if they were anything like me then they were ****ting it. Very nervy game even though they didn't really create much

A cold sunday lunchtime watching poor football doesn't help.

Most of the time our atmopshere is good, but today, it wasn't very good, but to be fair, the players didn't really do much to get the fans excited today.

Sometimes I can't sing because I'm so nervous that we're gonna concede. In a game like today when we're 1-0 up and struggling to find a 2nd, I **** myself for the rest of the game and don't feel like singing.

You buy a ticket to get behind the team today was the worst of the season by far

I buy a ticket to watch the football first, then if there is anything to sing about, hard to get a tune out today, what with the teeth chattering most .........

How many sets of fans sing 100% of the time, none.

It's unrealistic to expect fan bases to be loud and chanting all game. There are games like today where the fans just don't get going. It happens.

We have the best fan base in the league in terms of loyalty and getting behind our team, but it's still unrealistic to expect us to sing all the time, it just doesn't happen and never did happen, even when we were title contenders.

Our home support is diabolical, some people who go are ****ing dead. I've give up having a go and just sing on my own.

It was a nervy game mind, SWP had me on the edge of my seat a few times. Thankfully, Jay Bothroyd couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo so we got off lightly a few times. Although, to be fair, he hit the post with a pretty decent effort with Krul beaten.

We have a brilliant away support mate, but home support is shocking, possibly one of the worst in the league. Every game the away team takes the piss about our home support.

Some people are boring ****ers, dead inside.

i miss the leazes corner, there was always at least 4000 of us who were up for standing up and singing at every opportunity, moving us down to the south east corner killed the st james atmosphere

    Atmosphere was dead today.

It didn't even feel like I was at a football match in the first 20 minutes. The ground was covered in frost and it was all misty and silent. The game simply consisted of people from both sides kicking each other and miskicking the ball. I actually felt like I was in some kind of half way house in between hell and earth.

At times I even felt embarassed to clap, yet alone sing.

That's complete ****. If you compare our home crowd to most home crowds in this league, you'd see how great our home fans really are.

We sing well in most of the games, but we do have our off games, but we're still miles better than most clubs.

Definitely not one of the worst in the league.

I just think some people expect our crowd because of it's reputation to be chanting loudly in every game, but it's just not realistic. No crowd is that good.

Even Man Utd sing more at home than us.

We turn up in numbers, but you don't know it unless we are winning!

Are you a Sunderland fan in disguise? Because I've never heard so much **** in all my life.

You must go to a completely different ground to the one I go to every game.

And the thing about you don't know it unless we're winning is crap too. After the first half was over, the fans got behind the players for the full second half against Arsenal in the 4-4, even before we scored a goal.

And each time we went behind against WBA, until the 3-2 when we just lost our spirit, the fans immediately started singing "Newcastle, Newcastle, newcastle...".

75% of the time the fans are great, some other times were not but we're still far more consistent than most fan bases for singing and getting behind the team.

If we play **** like we did today, the fans don't get excited, but if the lads give it a proper go, then the fans will urge the team on. The players need to do their part as well, you can't expect a fan base to sing their guts out, despite the teams performance because that's just not realistic.

Man Utd game, **** atmosphere until we scored. It's been terrible ever since the Leazes Corner left. 75% of the time it's ****, the other 25% it livens up a bit. People sing a song for one verse them just shut up.

And no, I'm not a Sunderland fan, I haven't missed a game home or away for 5 years, I'm fully entitled to my opinion, and I reckon most would agree with me, well, at least 4000 from the Leazes Corner would.
