You know, its hard enough to take our inconsistent form on the chin and to keep believing, but crikey, the amount of doom and gloom on this board is really becoming a bit much. I wonder how many moaners are true supporters? What am I on about? Every time we are linked with a potential signing or actually sign someone it all kicks off. Take the signing of Rogers for example. Here is a player who has made it into his National team (and please remember that USA are better than Scotland, Wales and Ireland) and was a legend at his previous club. No sooner has the news broken that he is considering coming to Leeds and the moaning starts. Why do we need another wide player? Why sign someone from the USA? Look at Grella and his failure. Well, why not sign him? He looks like he has talent, and he wasn't exactly playing for a rubbish team. Remember, Grella never played in the MLS, he only got as far as College soccer for Duke, and he was then assigned to FC Toronto in the MLS but chose to move to Leeds instead. Unfortunately for the lad he never got the chance to develop as a player under the over-cautious Grayson. Now it looks like we are trying to bring Delph back on loan and the bitching starts again. Why? Delph was pure class for us which is why a Prem club signed him. He had the misfortune of injury that interrupted his progression at Villa, but that doesn't mean he is suddenly rubbish!! Villa, quite rightly, feel that a spell in the Championship will help him to regain his confidence and hopefully help him to push on and realise his potential. So why not welcome him back at Leeds? And he knows what it takes to play at Elland Road. The point is this, it doesn't matter who signs for us, the moment they pull on the White shirt we should back them to the hilt, we should get behind the lads and support them like no other club can. By doing this then at least we give them some belief, some will to fight for the club. It doesn't matter what we think of the manager or chairman, its the eleven on the pitch on match day who really matter. Why diss our players, some before we've even seen them play? Surely supporting the lads is a much better option? I welcome any player who wants to come to Leeds and try and make a difference. Let's all rather support the players and see where the can take us. If a player doesn't cut it on ability, so be it. The only thing we should complain about is a player not TRYING, but our boys have at least fought and battled, and this spirit has seen us pick up a load of points late in games this season. Come on people, positive vibes for the players please. Grayson and Bates are the only ones who deserve our ire right now.
The support at palace yesterday was amazing. no negative chanting, just 90 mins of full backing for the lads. all the moaners must have been listening on the radio
Smashing article! Although the support yesterday was 10/10, its on here thats depressing! Paynter will save our season!
Ridiculous. They played well, and have tried their best all season. What do you exactly want from average players? As for our support yesterday, I thought it was below-par for us. Poor variety of songs like at home games (MOT, WAL, WALL), not many joining in and a lot of moaners. Was good fun on the trains and in the pubs though, it's just weird how people turn into such grumps when they pass through the turnstiles and try their hardest to get on the team's back and abuse our own players ("Becchio you absolute ****er"), which in my eyes is the same as an opposition fan doing it. I can understand "get your arse into gear" but when our own 'fans' are directing personal insults at our players who've done nothing morally wrong, you start to think the whole 'we're Leeds fans, high expectations is what we do' thing is a bit of an annoying burden to bear. Anyway, I hope we can see some positive support at Elland Road next Saturday for the lads who need it.
I hate it when people shout out stuff like that. Especially at someone who's been a very good player for us over the last 3 seasons. He's off form at the moment, but people turn on players too quickly. And yeah, I don't like it when people complain about our signings when they've never seen them play. I saw O'Dea at Ipswich and he wasn't good, so I was disappointed when he signed. But for people to complain about Rogers, when no one has seen him is stupid. People complained about Lonergan signing in the summer.
Not where I was!. there was plenty of variety (including a new snodgrass chant to the tune from 'Heartbeat') and everyone joined in.
Looked fun there, that was a block to the right of me. Where I was it was just WAL and MOT started literally 20 times each. I was trying to get the Snoddy Heartbeat one going in my block but no-one was having any of it.
I was right in the middle of that block. really enjoyed it, one of the best aways in ages. do you not just move to where the best atmosphere is?
I would have done, but I'd already moved from that area where I was next to some bellend shouting 'Grayson out' at the top of his voice and 'Robbie Rogers' in a cringeworthy accent, and my mate couldn't be arsed moving back there.
oh right. i didnt hear anything stupid like that..then again i was abit worse for wear . i was lucky in that i didnt have to move as i started in that area
