This is one of the strangest seasons I have witnessed. And one of the strangest United teams too.

There is no doubt that this United team has got significant weaknesses, especially in midfield. The return of Scholes may paper the cracks but is not a long term solution. Fergie is not planning to bring new players in. United got beaten by teams which are not considered to be the strongest around: Crystal palace, basle, Blackburn.

And United's form has been inconsistent. with some matches where the team was absolutely flat. By all logic this team should be midtable. yet it is at the top equal on points with City (who have a game in hand away).

Are United more bad than good this season? Is it conceivable that such a team could win the league?

Oh goody, another cliche. We have bad results and poor performances every season. If this is "one of the strangest seasons" you have witnessed, you have obviously not been supporting us very long....and your logic is very badly flawed.

2nd in the league, yes UTD are playing poor, sack SAF and sell the players.

OP go back and support Liverpool or Chavski:)

Next thing you know SAF will choose to rest players fielding a weakened side and lose/draw.

e's cracking up I tells ya!

In previous seasons fans have complained we rotate too much, there is no winning is there?

Unfortunately (!) I am old enough to have stood (!) on the terraces at the Stretford End to watch the likes of Davenport, Birtles play. I have also watched the likes of Martin Buchan, Gordon McQueen, remi moses and Robson (when he started at OT) and Joe Jordan.

I still think this United side is quite strange in my view. I cannot put my finger on it. Over the years we have had United teams who have lost deservedly to better teams. This season, we have lost to teams we should have beaten easily. Some of these matches (cup or league) were important ones : CC (booted out) , champions league (booted out) and premiership (lost to Blackburn when we were on the verge of going top). We were flat in many of them: basle, Blackburn and even Newcastle.

I am not saying we won't win the premiership but if we do, to me it will be quite unexpected.
