Swarbs, that is my point, fourth is there and with the other teams having troubles this was a great chance to get fourth and be able to bring those top caliber players in before all the things you had mentioned. it is just frustrating and hard to be optimistic ( in the league) I don't doubt we will win a cup this year ( which will help to get back our winning mentality a bit) but fourth is what we wanted and we should be there. Everytime we get closer ( 1 pt-3pts) we do something like play negative AT HOME to Stoke and drop off further. Frustrating as ****! eatcustard, ya it is well documented our lack of cutting edge. Kuyt used to get us the odd goal and now he can't score, Suarez was struggling with getting goals, no need to harp on Carroll and his troubles. Bellamy should be in the team every game as he seems the only one to want to drive us forward and put in quality service.
Three of those you mean? You're five points plus quite a lot of GD off fourth place right now. And by the same measure you could easily have dropped points against QPR and Wigan which would have put you closer to Stoke than Chelsea... Lol, I'll try not to. It looked a lot like 361 to me at times! True, but that's been the story of your season, against sides much less organised than Stoke.
Guess I am just a realist when it comes to Liverpool, hard pill to swallow sometimes but can only hope we get that cutting edge up front in Jan and kick on, hope for other teams to drop a bit, win a cup and kick on basically.
United are weak as they have been for a while IMO. The best United teams have always had an excellent Keeper and a dominent central midfielder. I think based on the actual ability of the present squad, they(united) are currently overachieving due in part to the winning mentality they have had drilled into them by Fergie. Take Rooney away and you have an ordinary side. With an ageing Giggs, Scholes and Rio United will strugle unless the splash some cash. Not as rosy a picture as United fans will have us believe. Cracks being papered over by league positon. Not on the wind up, an honest United fan will admit the same.... Just to add, United have had the best backline for the last few years, with Rio, Evra, Vidic & VDS. But this is starting to break up. Think Phil Jones looks good thought in fairness.
Swarbs- 5 points off fourth, we win two of those I mentioned that is 6 points meaning........ GD wouldn't matter we would be ahead on points!
Swarbs those games against wigan and qpr, the same could be said about United and games this year, but you dug out the win, sign of a champion right? We can dig the games out occasionally but on the whole we are not and are in a position that we put ourselves in.
To be fair we've been blessed with goalscorers over the last 20 years, even if we haven't had the supporting cast worthy of them. Fowler, Owen and Torres. If there's any area we've excelled in the last 20 yrs its goalscorers.
When you look at Liverpools defence it as strong as uniteds, keeper included, and younger. I think our central midfield is better. United have better wide players and more options upfront, but we are not as far behind as the table suggets.
I agree with Bluff. A fourth spot is definitely attainable for Liverpool with the talent they've got, but with the right man at the helm. Dalglish ain't it.
Well, i'll leave you to stew in your delusion, then. Something else to chew on.
