Read the post again you idiot. Fergie had a team fighting relegation to contend with, in comparison to that if Dalglish was the Messiah like you'd like us all to believe, his situation should be a walk in the park. But it's not is it? Cos Dalglish is actually unproven in this situation, and he's gonna find it very difficult to win the league. Tell me how his stint at Newcastle went.

probably should have tried the same formation against Basle and you wouldnt be having to decide between watching Utd in the Europa league or location, location, location come Thursday nights.....just saying !

Think Dalglish on the 3 year deal says enough, get us back on track, hopefully get us challenging again, and then a younger coach comes in and can hopefully take us the next step and to the glory that we all want as Liverpool fans. Someone like Klopp from Dortmund, not sure who else out there at the moment, but I like Klopps style and the way he puts his team out to play.

Whereas you just ignore all the arguments you can't answer. Nicely done <ok>

I dunno - a good goalscorer can be notoriously difficult to get, and to make fit with your team. In theory Torres, Carroll, Forlan, Robbie Keane, Shevchenko, Rebrov, Brolin, Jardel etc should all have helped their team's finishing problems but all fell flatter than Ronaldo in a penalty box. The problem is finding a striker who will fit with your style of play and existing players, and even when you think you have one it doesn't always work out, like the Carroll / Suarez partnership that looked great on paper. And even if you get a great striker who bangs in the goals, it doesn't always help the team - RVN at Utd was a great goalscorer but the team suffered cos he had to have the ball all the time and so we had no other option.

But that said you are right - it's better to know exactly what the problem is, and poor finishing is far from the worst problem a team can have.

In 3 years time, you will be lucky to be in the top 8, along with arsenal :)
You are 4-5 players short of a top 4 place, and if you are not in Europe, those players will be hard to get, and dont expect Suarez to hang around, RM will take him off your hands.

let's see how it goes after 3 years, I remember before Dalglish people were saying Coyle because of the job he did at Burnley and (at the time) the turn around and attacking play of Bolton. Glad we didn't jump to it! Same with MON.

I always try to catch Dortmund when I can and Klopp is a class coach. If we need goals, Lewandowski could be the guy to do it and wouldn't cost too much as well ( loads of pace too in his game).

I see there is an optimism thread, no one seems to want to accept that we are the ones beating ourselves and we are our own problem and why we won't get fourth.

Who was your second striker? Adam or Henderson? Cos Gerrard was playing the holding role...

Liverpool need time, United have there own problems. Couple of injurys and it's game over for them this season, unless some serious cash is spent, city are going to leave them for dead.

I don't think that many off a top four place.... we beat Blackburn at home and let's say Norwich, we are ahead of Chelsea, but our home form and lack of goals is just killing us. Again, shooting ourselves in the foot. I also think we have diffrent options yes, but I think we have too many conflicting styles( players style) that are not working with pass and move ( Carroll and Downing are the obvious).

Trying not to get the wrath, but injuries? look at their backline! Look who they have up top, Berba on the bench, Hernandez has been out, it has been wellbeck and rooney, rooney obv being class but wellbeck is getting the goals as well. They play to their strengths, if we want to play pass and move footy ( which I prefer) we need players that can do it and strikers that want to do it.

I agree we need time, but you can't sit here and tell me that we don't have a team that can make the top 4 this year. look at Chelsea and Arsenal and how they have been struggling and look at all th epoints we have dropped at home. If Liverpool fans can sit here and tell me that when you looked at Sunderland, Swansea, Blackburn, Norwich at home that you weren't expecting three points, then you are lying. we win two of those and we are in 4th right now, not in time, but now.

Edit: More time meaning the league, top four should have been attainable this year after spending that kind of cash.

Well it was quite a fluid team (don't laugh)

Glen and Jose where pretty much camped out in the Stoke half, and one of the centre halves was usually pushing on when we had possesion. The point of it was to bring in Coates height, because of Stokes aerial threat. Having three in the middle gave us control of the midfield.

We had a lot of possesion in the right areas but clearly struggled with the killer pass against an excellently organised Stoke side.

Only a few days earlier we beat City. Have an excellent defence and are missing our best forward. Won't be the first or last team to drop points to Stoke.

Maybe. But by then we'll have won another ten league titles and we'll all be driving around in flying cars <ok>

Couple of injuries? You mean like if we had injuries to Young, Anderson, Cleverley, Ferdinand, Owen, Rafael, Fabio and Welbeck, and also had Vidic and Fletcher ruled out for the entire season? Yeah, we'd be ****ed if that happened.

    Oh, wait...

But remember than Chelsea are also rebuilding, and having just as many problems as you guys are with conflicting styles and under-performing players. No guarantee that they will be as weak in future, particularly with Romeu, Lukaku, McEachran and Sturridge getting better all the time. Nor will Arsenal be as weak once they finally lose patience with Wenger and bring in a manager who will actually spend the £100 million plus they have in the bank. Top four is going to get very crowded in the future...

You do miss that cutting edge you need to get that 4th spot, but Arsenal look dire in defense, but I do expect the Chavs to put a run together, so 5th will be best you can hope to get.
